<strong>SECUB</strong>-2: DC switchgear for light rail applications<br />

The <strong>SECUB</strong>-2 cubicle is a compact DC switchgear solution<br />

designed for DC traction substations powering light transportation<br />

systems such as tramways, LRT, trolleybuses, monorails<br />

and LIM.<br />

<strong>SECUB</strong>-2 completes the range of Sécheron DC switchgear<br />

that covers heavy duty transportation systems.<br />

<strong>SECUB</strong>-2 is the improved evolution of the <strong>SECUB</strong> which has<br />

widely been installed in various networks since more than 10<br />

years.<br />

Description<br />

The metal enclosed compartmented DC switchgear type <strong>SECUB</strong>-2 integrates three separated compartments for high and low<br />

voltage equipment:<br />

• Low voltage compartment including protection and control devices<br />

• High-speed circuit-breaker compartment<br />

• Rear high voltage busbar compartment including optional disconnecting switch<br />

Protection and control compartment<br />

Accessible from the front of the cubicle, the low voltage compartment includes the protection and control relay SEPCOS, the<br />

low voltage equipment (MCBs, relays etc.).<br />

High speed circuit breaker compartment<br />

The HV compartment includes the high-speed circuit-breaker which is mounted on a withdrawable drawer.<br />

The drawer can easily be drawn in or out of the cubicle and connected or disconnected from buses by means of power finger<br />

connectors.<br />

The HSCB’s auxiliary circuits can be connected or disconnected thanks to a multiple connector.<br />

The unlocking mechanism of the door ensures a trip of the HSCB before opening.<br />

Behind this door, a polycarbonate protecting screen ensures the security of personel and prevent contact with live parts.<br />

With the door open, the drawer can be drawn in or out with a handle located on the drawer frame (linked to a locking system).<br />

When the drawer has been drawn out, it can be easily placed on a trolley (optional) allowing easy maintenance operations and<br />

access inside the cubicle.<br />

The withdrawable circuit breaker drawer has four different positions:<br />

• Service<br />

• Test<br />

• Disconnected<br />

• Removed<br />

It is possible to see the physical<br />

state of the HSCB (opened or<br />

closed) as well as the drawer<br />

position (service or test) trough a<br />

window located on the front door.<br />

through this window.<br />

The drawer also contains a measuring shunt. The isolated amplifiers for current (MIU10) and voltage (VM10) measurement as well<br />

as the line test components are mounted on a retractable plate located below the drawer.<br />

With the plate removed, the power cable connection compartment is easily accessible inside the cubicle. This feature makes the<br />

installation against the wall possible.<br />

This compartment is separated from the busbar compartment thanks to isolating shutters.<br />

Rear high voltage busbar compartment<br />

The busbar rear compartment is composed of two main parts:<br />

• Main incoming busbar<br />

• Connection for outgoing cables, copper bars are provided to connect the power cable to the third rail or the catenary<br />

• As an option, an off load disconnecting switch can be mounted to insure the by-pass or line isolating function

SEPCOS control and protection relay<br />

SEPCOS is a protection and control unit that is applied to the outgoing feeder or the<br />

incoming HSCB cubicles in the DC traction substation.<br />

Main features:<br />

• Modular PLC concept, PLC programming, IEC61131 normalized programming.<br />

• Fully approved in railway substation environment EN50255-22.<br />

• High noise immunity thanks to sampling rate at 40 microseconds and<br />

16 bits A-D converter.<br />

Protection functions:<br />

• All typical protection functions (e.g. Function DDL +/-, Imax +/-, etc.).<br />

Control functions:<br />

• HSCB ON / OFF control with electric or magnetic holding.<br />

• Intertripping, automatic reclosing, anti-pumping, line test function.<br />

• External synchronization of the PLC, measurement supervisor control.<br />

Full compact lightrail solution<br />

With years of experience in the field of traction rectifiers, today proposes a cubicle which integrates both functions of rectifier and<br />

isolating switch.<br />

This cubicle is normally used combined with the <strong>SECUB</strong>-2.<br />

It is a compact solution for LRT’s substation building and reserves ample space for convenient maintenance operation.<br />
