Decision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Forest Advisory Committee:<br />
The Committee deferred <strong>the</strong> consideration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Proposal to allow<br />
felling <strong>of</strong> trees/poles/saplings in plantation units <strong>of</strong> Social<br />
Forestry and Soil Conservation Departments for<br />
construction/improvement <strong>of</strong> road from Katra to Reasi (Km 0.00<br />
to 13.00) as large number <strong>of</strong> Khair trees are involved which can<br />
not be felled as per <strong>the</strong> orders <strong>of</strong> Hon’ble Supreme court <strong>of</strong> India.<br />
The committee observed that <strong>the</strong> survey being carried out<br />
regarding Khair trees by <strong>the</strong> Forest Department may be<br />
expedited so that <strong>the</strong> Hon’ble Supreme court is approached again<br />
for lifting <strong>the</strong> ban.<br />
