FUNDING SOURCE INCENTIVE DESCRIPTION<br />

Offers zero-<strong>in</strong>terest loans to public agencies for <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>cremental costs of AFVs and for<br />

refuel<strong>in</strong>g equipment.<br />

Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Literary Fund Permits loans from <strong>the</strong> Literary Fund for construct<strong>in</strong>g and equipp<strong>in</strong>g school bus fuel<strong>in</strong>g<br />

facilities supply<strong>in</strong>g CNG or o<strong>the</strong>r alternative fuels. Tax credits from $200 to $5,000 are also<br />

available.<br />

West Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Clean State Program Up to $10,000 available to convert fleets to alternative fuels. Applicants limited to county<br />

governments, <strong>in</strong>corporated municipalities, transit authorities and school boards.<br />

U.S. IRS Federal Tax Deduction Tax deductions of up to $50,000 provided for qualified clean fuel buses. Also, tax deductions<br />

of up to $100,000 per location are available for qualified clean fuel refuel<strong>in</strong>g property or<br />

recharg<strong>in</strong>g property for electric vehicles.<br />

Credits which can be traded or sold are allocated to state fleet operators and covered<br />

Alternative Fuel Provider fleet operators when AFVs are acquired over and above <strong>the</strong> amount<br />

required, or earlier than expected.<br />

Clean Cities Program Coord<strong>in</strong>ates voluntary efforts between locally based government and <strong>in</strong>dustry to accelerate<br />

<strong>the</strong> use of alternative fuels and expand AFV refuel<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>frastructure.<br />

Urban Consortium Funds Funds city, county, and tribal projects that best def<strong>in</strong>e and demonstrate <strong>in</strong>novative and<br />

realistic energy efficient and environmentally responsible technologies. Many AFV projects<br />

have received fund<strong>in</strong>g from this program.<br />

Provides up to 60% federal funds to implement plans to prevent and control air pollution.<br />

$9.1 billion national program designed to help states control transportation and meet national<br />

air quality standards for air criteria pollutants. Eligible projects <strong>in</strong>clude vehicle refuel<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

conversions to AFVs.
