CENTURY WOOD DUCKS
DR. RON ANDERSON
President
Century College
THE WOOD DUCK NATION!
At Century College, we are passionate about our mission and the role we play in transforming our
students’ lives, our communities, and the broader world. As a college of the community, we serve
a variety of important roles, including transfer preparation, occupational preparation, business and
industry training, continuing education, and personal enrichment–each of which we believe is
critical in supporting our community and developing a strong and resilient workforce and populace.
In doing this work, we are committed to partnering with the individuals, organizations, and K-12
institutions in our community, to ensure that we remain accessible and provide a clear pathway to
higher education for our increasingly diverse and underserved populations.
At the center of our mission is the success of our students. We believe that this success is about
more than just “the numbers,” public accountability, and meeting or exceeding benchmarks.
It’s about people–transforming their lives, and helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, and
abilities that can, in turn, transform their families and their broader communities.
In fulfilling this mission, we are committed to sustaining rigor in our work–holding high standards
and expectations for both our students and for ourselves, and approaching our work with
compassion–working with integrity and caring, accepting people where they are and moving
them forward without sacrificing standards or expectations.
Welcome to the Century Community–a community dedicated to higher learning, personal and
community development, and the transformation of lives.
Softball Coaching Staff
Angie Kenney begins her first season as Century College head softball coach. She returns to Minnesota,
her birthplace, excited to continue the success she has enjoyed at previous coaching stops.
Kenney most recently coached softball for six seasons (2006-2011) at the University of Texas of the
Permian Basin, a NCAA Division II program. She began a three-year stint as assistant coach in 2006.
Promoted to head coach in 2009, Kenney earned co-Heartland Conference Coach of the Year honors one
season later as her team set a program record with 18 victories. The Falcons tied the mark in 2011.
After taking the reins of the program, she raised the conference winning percentage almost .300 points
and the overall winning percentage by .200 points. The Falcons qualified for the postseason twice under
Kenney (2009, 2010) after a last-place conference finish in 2008.
She coached 10 All-Heartland Conference players as well as two newcomers of the year. Her players
also succeeded in the classroom, witnessed by 12 academic all-conference performers.
Angie Kenney
Softball Head Coach
Prior to her job at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Kenney served as an assistant coach for
three seasons (2003-05) at Odessa College in Texas. The Wranglers improved in victories each season,
culminating with a 52-23 record in 2005 and a third-place finish in the NJCAA Division I national
tournament. With Kenney’s assistance, Odessa produced two All-American, eight all-region and 16
all-conference players.
As a player, Kenney spent three seasons at the University of Utah, where she twice earned academic
all-conference and made the Dean’s List. Utah made two NCAA Division I regional tournament
appearances. Kenney started her post-secondary softball career as an outfielder at Phoenix College,
earning first-team NJCAA All-American honors in 1999 and setting school records in hits, runs scored
and stolen bases.
Kenney earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Utah and completed her
master’s degree in kinesiology at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Originally from St. Paul, Minn., Kenney played two seasons at Johnson High School.
Dave Bealke is in his second year as assistant women’s softball coach at Century College.
Before coming to Century College, Bealke was involved with the North St. Paul high school program as
junior varsity/varsity assistant for two years.
Prior to North St. Paul, Bealke coached softball at St. Paul Johnson for 27 years as a junior varsity/
varsity assistant. Bealke’s teams participated in four state tournaments. He was an assistant coach for
three state All-Star series.
Bealke has coached many years with the Area-J summer program, developing players from the
Under-14 through U-18 levels. Away from the diamond, Bealke has coached B-squad girls’ basketball
and also served as a girls’ soccer coach.
Bealke graduated from North St. Paul and attended Lakewood (now Century) Community College before
transferring to the University of Minnesota. Bealke enjoyed his student experience at Lakewood and
understands the many values of a community college experience.
