PUBLIC Distribution System in the country facilitates the supply of food<br />
grains to the poor at a subsidisedprice. Essential items such as<br />
selected cereals, sugar and kerosene at subsidized prices to holders<br />
of ration cards is the objective of efficient Public Distribution System.<br />
The PDS also helps to modulate open - market prices for commodities<br />
that are distributed through the system. Government accords great<br />
importance to the objective of measuring outcomes of PDS so as to<br />
ensure that equal distribution system serves up the purpose for which it<br />
was set up.<br />
Application of ICT for delivery of public services at various levels in<br />
government is common. Get anoverview of such initiatives in the States<br />
of Karnataka and Tripura in our From the State/UTs section.Districts like<br />
Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh), Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), Ganjam (Orissa) are also<br />
