NURSERY I & II- MOROT ETTIE & TAMI
Our unit on winter continues to be the focus
of our week’s activities. We talked about the
weather conditions up north and how cold it is there.
We also learned about the concepts of
small, medium and large as we assembled our
snowmen. The stories Curious George Goes
Sledding by Margaret H.A. Rey and Snowman At
Night by Caralyn Buchner were read to the children.
We had a lot of fun drinking hot cocoa to “warm our
tummies.” A delightful fingerplay about snowmen
was also taught to the children.
Ten Little Snowmen
Ten little snowmen riding on my sled
One rolled off and bumped his head
I called Frosty and Frosty said
No more snowmen riding on my sled
Nine little snowmen riding on my sled
Eight ….and so on
No more snowmen riding on my sled.
NURSERY I & II- MOROT NECHAMA & SUSAN
In continuation of our unit on Our
Neighborhoods, we talked about the concept of
sharing. Some children share bedrooms with their
siblings and others have their own rooms. The
children also drew a picture of themselves
sleeping in their beds. We depicted our
neighborhoods on the classroom bulletin boards
and also created easel paintings of our
neighborhoods. Pictures of a police station, a fire
station and a school were added to the bulletin
board this week.
The library center featured many books
about different neighborhoods. We listened to the
stories Get Out Of Bed by Robert Munsch, Ira
Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber and A House Is A
House For Me by Mary Ann Hoberman.
In conjunction with the unit on Our
Neighborhood, the children dressed as policeman,
doctors, firemen and postal carriers. They also
created pretend police tickets.
For Parashas Vayechi, we learned how
Yaakov Avinu blessed Menashe and Ephraim as he
crossed his hands. We sang the pasuk “Hamalach
Hagoel.” We can’t wait to go to shul this week to
shout “Chazak, Chazak V’nischazak.”

PRE-KI & II- MOROT ETTIE & HEIDI
In Parashas Vayechi, we learned about the
brachos that Yaakov gave to his grandsons. We
spoke about Yaakov crossing his hands over the
heads of Ephraim and Menashe when he gave
them their special brachos. We discussed the many
mitzvos that we do with our hands. We sang the
tefillah “Hamalach Hagoel” and discussed the
brachos that parents give their children on Friday
night at the Shabbos table.
This week, the letter yud was introduced.

tracing their ידים for their aleph-bais books.
Our Shabbos unit is well under way. We
are learning about the kedusha of Shabbos. We
are reading many stories about Shabbos and are in
the middle of creating many beautiful Shabbos
projects to enhance your Shabbos table. Any
books, tapes or CD’s about Shabbos would be
welcome.

PRE-KI & II- MOROT BERNEY & JUDY
The letter “Jj” visited our class this week, and our
days were jam packed. In art, we made jeweled Jewish
stars, and added a jeweled “Jj” to our alphabet book. We
learned the poem “Jack In The Box” and acted it out. We
also recited the nursery rhyme “Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be
Quick” as we jumped over the candlestick. We talked
about what we love about being Jewish. We also
squeezed oranges and made delicious juice.
We are very excited about our unit on art
appreciation. Each week, we focus on a different artist.
To date, we have learned about Jackson Pollock,
Georges Seurat, Paul Cezanne, Piet Mondrian, Henri
Matisse and Claude Monet. We’ve had so much fun
trying out each of their styles. This week, we learned
about Marc Chagall. We talked about the stained glass
windows that he made for Hadassah Hospital and of
course, made our own versions of stained glass
windows. To round out our week, we looked at books
about the different artists and listened to stories
beginning with the letter “Jj”.

KINDERGARTEN I & II-MOROT BAYLA & RENA
The yeladim have become much more aware
of the brachos that they make on foods as our Bracha
unit continues to evolve. The Bracha “Borei Minei
Mezonos” was featured this week. We enjoyed
activities such as baking and decorating cupcakes.
Many new words were added to our growing Hebrew
vocabulary such as oogiyot, itriyot, orez and sukar to
name a few. We made beautiful cake plates that will
grace our Shabbos tables.
We enjoyed hearing the story Adventures In
Bracha Land by Bracha Rishona. Of course, our
culminating activity was a delicious Mezonos party.
The letter Ches was introduced this week.
We listed many new words that begin with this letter
and enjoyed working in our alef-bais books.
In Project Derech, we learned that it is a
mitzvah to ask permission before leaving the
presence of a parent.
In Project Chaverim, we learned that if
someone talks to you, it is Derech Eretz to answer
them.
For Parashas Vayechi, the children acted out
the story of Yaakov Avinu blessing Ephraim and
Menashe and sang the tefillah “Hamalach Hagoel.”
We discussed the brachos which Yaakov gave to his
children-the twelve shevatim.
We hope that all of the children are going to
be in shul this Shabbos so that they can sing
“Chazak, Chazak V’nischazek” when Sefer Beraishis
is completed.
KINDERGARTEN I & II-MOROT BERNEY & MIRIAM
We completed our “Tt” letterbooks and had a
terrific time playing “Tic-Tac-Toe” on the classroom
chalkboards, on the little chalkboards and on paper.
We continued our unit on transportation and are really
enjoying working on our transportation stories and
compiling them into a big book.
In the middle of the week, we started the “Ff”
letterbook and continued having a fantastic, fun filled
week with lots of fabulous activities. We learned how
to read more word families such as fast-cast-last, liftsift-gift
and dog-log-fog. We also learned to read the
words “of” and “off”. It is such fun to see how our
reading vocabularies are growing each week. We
also listened to the books Ferdinand, The Bull by
Munroe Leaf and several Franklin, The Turtle books.
Our letter “Ff” really came into focus with our
new topics this week. We talked about Four Food
Families and Fog. The children learned what a
balanced meal consists of and were encouraged to
talk about what they eat for each meal and what food
families their foods come from.
In science, the children learned that a fog is a
really low lying cloud formed when the wind blows
warm, moist air over a colder surface.

acquaintances. Personal or solicited ads will be applied
towards your give/get obligation.
Anyone who raises their $1,000 give or get will receive two
complimentary tickets to the Dinner. Please be sure to call the
