MMS (Brigham/Colton) that nominations cease and they cast a unanimous ballot for Mr.<br />

Nugent. PASSED <strong>The</strong> director then turned the chair back over to President Nugent. Tom<br />

Dannen was nominated for the office of Vice President. MMS (Colton/Brigham) that nominations<br />

cease and they cast a unanimous ballot for Mr. Dannen. PASSED Steve Colton<br />

was nominated for the office of Treasurer. MMS (Brigham/Peterson) that nominations<br />

cease and they cast a unanimous ballot for Mr. Colton. PASSED <strong>The</strong> director outlined<br />

election concerns for the DAG that necessitated a special meeting of the Executive Board.<br />

Board members offered their comments on the sessions they attend at the 2001 National<br />

Federation Summer Convention and offered their suggestions for topics to be covered at<br />

the <strong>2002</strong> Convention. Director Greiner was instructed to forward that information to John<br />

Dotson, Wall Lake who currently serves as Section 4 Representative on the National<br />

Federation Interscholastic Music Association. <strong>The</strong> director shared his concern that many<br />

of the festivals/competitions seeking sanction are employing excessively large entry fees<br />

and his fear that our sanction of those events appear to be our “stamp of approval” to local<br />

administrators. He also asked for clarification of the association policy dealing with events<br />

that appear on the same date as one of the association’s festivals. <strong>The</strong> director outlined the<br />

proposed constitutional amendments that would bring the association inline with current<br />

terminology, state law, and practice, and would lend clarification to needed items. MMS<br />

(Peterson/Merz) to approve the proposed amendments as presented. Role Call vote:<br />

Brigham, Aye; Colton, Nay; Dannen, Nay; Peterson, Aye; Merz, Aye; Nugent, Nay. DE-<br />

FEATED MMS (Colton/Brigham) approve all of the proposed amendments as presented<br />

except Article V, Section 5. Role Call vote: Brigham, Aye; Colton, Aye; Dannen, Nay;<br />

Peterson, Aye; Merz, Nay; Nugent, Aye. PASSED MMS (Dannen/Peterson) to not send<br />

the proposed amendments to the constitution to the membership for ratification until Article<br />

V, Section 5 can be addressed. PASSED With no further business to discuss the<br />

meeting was adjourned at 2:33 p.m.<br />
