shall be the sole responsibility of the involved school district provided Regulations<br />

<strong>No</strong>. 1, 2, and 4 of the above are abided.<br />

It is further RECOMMENDED that:<br />

1. Whenever possible, competitions should be held on non-school time (weekends,<br />

vacation, etc.)<br />

2. <strong>School</strong>s should emphasize a 125-mile or half-day limitation for events scheduled<br />

on a weekday and a 300-mile limitation for events scheduled on weekends.<br />

3. Events sponsored by non-educational agencies should be scrutinized with<br />

extreme care. Sponsoring agencies should submit, upon request, a financial<br />

accounting to demonstrate that they do not profit unreasonably from such<br />

sponsorship.<br />

4. Activities scheduled on the Unified <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Activities Federation<br />

calendar should be given priority in relation to programs sponsored by outside<br />

agencies.<br />

IOWA HALL OF PRIDE<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Athletic Association is collecting information from its member schools<br />

for use in the <strong>Iowa</strong> Hall of Pride. Each member school has received a manual which<br />

supplies schools log-in name and password allowing submissions to be made online (see<br />

your administrator). <strong>The</strong> website for entering data for the <strong>Iowa</strong> Hall of Pride is<br />

www.iowaschooldisplays.org<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> Hall of Pride is a celebration of everything which makes each community in <strong>Iowa</strong><br />

great. This celebration must, and should, include the great musical achievements <strong>Iowa</strong><br />

communities have experienced.<br />

Music-oriented information needed includes:<br />

v History – significant musical events<br />

v Significant Alumni Achievements<br />

v All-State Participants<br />

v Testimonials<br />

v Artifacts<br />

v Anything deemed worthy of inclusion<br />

RE-ELECTED EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER<br />

Tim Peterson, Superintendent, Charter Oak-Ute, received a Bachelor of Music degree<br />

from <strong>Iowa</strong> State University, a Masters in Administration from Drake University and a Specialist<br />

in Education from the University of <strong>Iowa</strong>. He taught instrumental music at Newell-<br />

Providence, <strong>No</strong>rwalk and Ventura. He was a principal at Wyoming-Midland and Malvern<br />

prior to his present position. Tim’s hobbies are hunting, fishing, dog breeding and musical<br />

performance. Mr. Peterson’s term will expire in 2006.<br />
