He graduated in arts from Manipur<br />

from Lucknow. He started as a theatre<br />
worker in 1978, and has since,<br />
acted in more than 25 films. He has<br />
also directed 17 feature films.<br />
umesh kulkarni<br />
He studied direction at FTII, Pune<br />
and then attended the La Femis<br />
summer course in 2000. His first two<br />
films, Valu and Vihir, were critical<br />
successes. He is a writer-director.<br />
RITUPARNO GHOSH<br />
He started with advertising before<br />
moving on to films with Hirer Angti in<br />
1992. He has several National <strong>Film</strong><br />
Award wins beginning with Unishe<br />
April in 1995.<br />
JOSEPH PULINTHANATH<br />
A gold medalist in English Literature,<br />
he did brief courses in <strong>Film</strong> from FTII,<br />
Pune and is currently based in Agartala.<br />
His debut film was the awardwinning<br />
Mathia.<br />
S.K. ABDUL RAZZAK<br />
An audiography alumni from <strong>Film</strong> and<br />
Television Institute <strong>of</strong> India, Pune, he<br />
has done location sound and sound<br />
designing in several films and documentaries.<br />
SOONI TARAPOREWALA<br />
She studied cinema at Harvard and<br />
New York University. She wrote<br />
screenplays for Mira Nair films, Salaam<br />
Bombay, Mississippi Masala<br />
etc. Little Zizou is her debut directorial<br />
venture.<br />
BIJU VISHWANATH<br />
He is an award winning international<br />
film maker. His films have been<br />
screened at several international film<br />
festivals. The critically acclaimed feature<br />
film ‘déjà vu’, made in English,<br />
was his first international production.<br />
BANI PRAKASH DAS<br />
He has been associated with the film<br />
industry for nearly 15 years now. He<br />
worked as production controller <strong>of</strong><br />
the first-ever Assamese blockbuster I<br />
Killed Him, Sir.<br />
JAYARAJ<br />
He is noted for his versatility and<br />
inventiveness on the set.<br />
In 1999 he started a new concept in<br />
world cinema by laying foundation for<br />
9-film series project Navarasa.<br />
AKANKSHA JOSHI<br />
She is an independent documentary<br />
filmmaker and photographer. She has<br />
made films on topics as diverse as<br />
the 1947 refugees, 1984 riots and the<br />
river Ganga. Chilika Bank has won<br />
accolades in other festivals.<br />
AMBARIEN ALQADAR<br />
She is a Mass Communication graduate<br />
from Jamia University, Delhi. Her<br />
first independent documentary titled<br />
Elsewhere, won an award. She is<br />
presently a Fullbright Nehru Leadership<br />
Development Fellow at Temple<br />
University, USA.<br />
PARESH MOKASHI<br />
He is a Marathi theatre veteran who<br />
was also involved with Gripps Theatre<br />
in Germany. Harishchandrachi<br />
Factory is his directorial debut and<br />
also India’s <strong>of</strong>ficial entry to the 2010<br />
Academy Awards.<br />
MANOJ PUNJ<br />
In a tragically short life <strong>of</strong> 36, Manoj<br />
Punj made four films, all <strong>of</strong> which won<br />
National Awards. He brought Punjabi<br />
cinema out <strong>of</strong> anonymity, and into<br />
glory.<br />
PANKAJ GUPTA<br />
He is a documentary filmmaker and<br />
sustainability researcher in India. He<br />
has produced and directed several<br />
factual series for television. He is<br />
presently a researcher and academician<br />
in Bangalore.<br />
AIJAZ KHAN<br />
He has directed and produced ads<br />
over the last ten years. He also writes<br />
scripts for his films. The White Elephant<br />
is his debut as a director.<br />
PRIYADARSHAN<br />
He has directed a number <strong>of</strong> commercial<br />
successes in the South, before<br />
moving on to Bollywood. His films, like<br />
Viraasat, Kala Pani, and Thenmavin<br />
Kombathu were critically acclaimed.<br />
