However, life changed 20 years ago when opera student Nancy Ulrich’s legs gave out during rehearsal. She learned she had Multiple Sclerosis. Standing for performances would soon become difficult. Nancy found a new creative outlet in Master Singers, a community chorus specializing in traditional choral music. Front-row performers remain seated, enabling disabled singers to participate equally during concerts. However, sitting doesn’t ease the difficulty of the group’s repertoire, which Nancy said she enjoys: “Singing is a very physical thing. It challenges me.” Summit County Historical Society of Akron, Ohio Security lighting, walkway and landscaping at the John Brown House $ 20,000 Tuesday Musical Association Vienna Boys Choir performance $ 10,000 Weathervane Community Playhouse Inc.
