By Mark Muthig, Business Administrator
All contributing parishioners should have received their family’s ―Final Contribution Statement for Calendar-Year 2011‖ at
the end of January. Please carefully check it over, and if there is a discrepancy, please leave a message for me as soon as
possible at 729-4560, ext. 107.
Here is the Preliminary Operating Income Summary, covering July 1, 2011 through January 31, 2012, for your perusal:
Actual Budget Ann. Projection Annual Budget
Sacrificial Giving 602,647 635,966 982,187 1,025,700
All Other Revenue 118,767 141,513 159,126 189,175
School Net Expenditures (376,875) (357,488) (635,396) (616,323)
Planned Capital Expends (43,920) (44,541) (89,300) (89,300)
All Other Expenditures (369,288) (367,102) (637,646) (634,614)
Net Surplus/Deficit (68,670) 8,348 (221,029) (125,362)
Projected SPL Funds Needed - - 221,029 125,362
Here are a couple points about these numbers:
1. The bottom line is quite a bit behind what we budgeted to date. It seems as though our terrific Sustaining Parish
Life drive may be taking a hit on Sacrificial Giving. All Other Revenue is another area of major concern.
That includes fundraising and estate gifts. Please help us turn the corner by bringing your fundraising ideas to
the Finance Council members and by remembering your church in your estate planning.
2. The remainder of the deficit is due to our capital improvement plan and our school net expenditures
(maintenance costs beyond the ―rent‖ received from TCCES). As noted at the annual meeting, the operating
budget that was passed for this fiscal year is about $36,000 short, with another $89,000 set aside for capital improvement
projects. As noted both above and below, the total shortfall will be covered through our Sustaining
Parish Life fund.
3. EVERYBODY, please do what you can to help your parish get through this economically tough time.
And now a few facts about the Renovation loan, covering July 1, 2011 through January 31, 2012:
1. The loan balance as of January 31 is $203,708, all of which is from post-Renovation capital projects. As Fr.
Mike reported, the original renovation loan is entirely paid off!
2. The principal paid off the renovation portion of the loan between July 1 and January 31 is almost $140,000!
This is from money contributed directly to our Sustaining Parish Life fund drive.
3. Due to refinancing the loan in May 2010 and our extremely successful SPL drive, the monthly interest paid on
the loan is around $1,300, down about 70% from two years ago!
If you have not yet done so, please fulfill your outstanding Advancing the Mission pledge to the diocese. If fulfilled, our parish
will receive an additional $40,000 to pay down our loan!
I have begun working with the staff, Finance Council, and Trustees (and indirectly with the Parish Council) in putting together
an accurate budget for next fiscal year. Preliminary numbers show that we are back to the very tough years again (a
$150,000 operating/capital deficit) if giving patterns and programming remains the same. Program and capital expenditures
still remain very tight. Therefore, we are continually looking at some significant ways in order to eliminate that deficit.
Just a reminder – if you have not yet taken the opportunity to contribute via automatic withdrawal and would like to do so,
please check the parish website or contact Sally at the Parish Center for a form.
You may have noticed that we are not having a Calendar-Year 2012 Estimate of Giving Card drive. That is because we are
had our full-fledged debt elimination / visioning drive, that is, Sustaining Parish Life. However, if you would like to fill out
a card for this calendar year, please pick one up in the Gathering Space or Parish Office and mail your family’s completed
card to (or drop it off at) the Parish Center, or place in the collection basket during weekend Masses.
Especially during Lent, please continue to support our Sustaining Parish Life fund drive. As previously noted, the main
purposes are to: 1) pay off the remaining debt from our 2003 Renovation and subsequent necessary capital improvements; 2)
provide funding for planned new necessary capital improvements; and 3) provide funding for expanded programming that
has come out of the recent parish visioning process. Please give generously!
One final though – Please do not think of Sacrificial Giving as ―Pew Rent‖, ―Church Dues‖, or the like. Sacrificial Giving
is a privilege! It is a terrific way of saying ―thank you‖ to God for everything He has given us. After all, what
does anybody have that was not given to him or her from God If you can think of something, please let me know! I
can’t think of anything! Thank you for allowing me to serve you, and may God bless.
.

St. Margaret Mary
School News
Eleanor Healy, Principal
The Mission of St. Margaret Mary School is to provide a Christ-Centered Community of Life-long Learners.
We have just completed a week-long celebration of Catholic Schools Week. This is an annual
reminder of the gift of Catholic Education sponsored by the National Catholic Education
Association. Our theme for the year is Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service.
Our TCCES schools strive to be Communities of Believers, integrating our faith into all areas of
the curriculum and all aspects of our lives. Our mission statement affirms our commitment to
provide a solid academic as well as spiritual foundation in order to prepare our students to live in
harmony with God and others throughout their lives. Catholic beliefs and doctrine are at the
core of our education programs that balance traditional methods of teaching with current
techniques, strategies, and technology. At St. Margaret Mary School, we offer a fully equipped
computer lab, a mobile notebook lab, SMART Board Technology in all classrooms, an art room,
vocal and instrumental music programs, and Spanish Language classes. We provide a
supportive, nurturing environment within our school while we reinforce the values being taught
in your homes.
Our staff is grateful for the opportunity to work in a supportive, Christian atmosphere. We are
happy to be able to pray with and share our faith with our students every day. We thank St.
Margaret Mary parishioners for making this possible.
Our school houses a Kindergarten through fifth grade program and also an Early Childhood
Program for three, four and five year olds. We are anxious to share your school with you.
Thank you for your support of Catholic Education.
Christmas Giving Tree Project
Thank you to all who supported and assisted in any way with the Giving Tree Project. We were able to
help 37 parish families with grocery $CRIP; 24 of those families also received the 277 Christmas Gifts that
were donated. We also gave 28 gifts for group home residents, 48 presents for 30 nursing home residents,
and 308 gifts to Brigade and 63 Winnebago Mental Health Institute. Your generosity has allowed
others to experience the joy of God’s love at Christmas. May God bless you and your family.

Friends of Haiti (FOH)
Medical/Dental Spring Mission Trip
April 16—27, 2012
This year the Friends of Haiti Mission Group is requesting toothbrushes, (adult and children size). The goal is to collect
1000 of each! There will be doctors, nurses and dentists on this trip. These wonderful people pay their own travel expenses
to staff the 6 clinics in the mountains. The Haitians who live in these mountainous areas have few roads, no electricity and
very little portable water. They are so grateful to have medical and dental care provided by FOH twice a year. Patients are
lined up at the door long before daylight every day. The dentists work with a couple of portable dentist chairs and headlamps.
They do mostly extractions of abscessed teeth, sometimes as many as 30 extractions a day. The children’s teeth are
coated with fluoride. The dentists carry in their own instruments, antibiotics and pain medicines. Volunteer doctors and
nurses treat intestinal parasites, dysentery, injuries, nutritional diseases etc. Each staff member travels with 2 extra suitcases
packed with medical supplies and takes a backpack for their personal needs. The volunteers travel over the mountains
on foot. All of the supplies are carried by hand into the remote areas or on a donkey led by the Haitians. It is a real labor of
love.
Easter Baskets/Easter Cookies
We will be organizing our annual outreach with Easter Baskets and cookie delivery—watch for details in
the bulletin as we get closer to the season.
EASTER IS COMING
Fill an ice cream pail or a basket that same size
Place the basket in a clear plastic or cellophane wrap
Attach the tag securely to the top of the wrap
Bring it to the kitchen area in the Gathering Space at church
on March 24-25 or March 31-April 1
Respect Life Committee News
Thank you to all who donated baby care and maternity items to Mother and Unborn Baby Care in January. Your generosity
will be greatly appreciated by the individuals using Mother and Unborn Baby Care services. They will be delivered the
week of February 6. The baby bottle collection will continue until February 18. The funds raised from the baby bottle will
help support 50% to Mother of Unborn Baby, 25% will support St. Margaret Mary Respect Life efforts and 25% will support
Wisconsin Right to Life for education. A special Thank You to Prospera Credit Union for counting the change.
Our parish was able to help support one of our youth who traveled to Washington DC for the March for Life on January 23
with St. Mary High School students.
May 12 & 13 is the Mother’s Day Rose Sale. Please plan ahead if you wish to give that special mother roses for Mother's
Day.
Prayer is a powerful tool. Spiritually adopt an unborn child that is in danger of abortion and please pray daily for that child
this simple prayer: "Jesus, Mary & Joseph I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that
I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."
Bishop David Ricken has outlined a three-facet respect life initiative for the Diocese:
Pray and fast.
Learn to love people by freeing them from their ignorance.
Defend life with no fear, hesitation or compromise
The first Monday of the month the Neenah/Menasha Respect Life meetings occur at St. Patrick's Parish. Please consider
becoming a part of the team.
· 6 pm pray the Rosary for life in the church
· 6:30 pm Meeting in the parish center
$CRIP
For all those of you who have not enjoyed the convenience of the $CRIP Program and are wondering about it…
All you have to do is:
Stop in the Gathering Space after any weekend Mass
Complete an order form, checking off your desired
certificates and appropriate increments
Make out ONE check, or pay by cash and receive
your $CRIP Certificates on the spot
That's IT. You're on your way to convenience.
$CRIP Certificates are purchased at a percentage (2% to 20%) discount from retailers and restaurants in this area.
Your purchase of a $CRIP Certificate at face value allows the parish to benefit from the profit, AT NO EXTRA COST TO
YOU.
$CRIP can be used to pay charge accounts from many department stores, given as gifts throughout the year, and used
to purchase anything from necessary items like: food, prescriptions, clothes, dining out, hardware items, and many others.
In fact, the convenience of $CRIP is great. No checks (& identification) to produce at the check-out lane, no interest to
pay (as with a charge card), and NO HASSLES. Incidentally, the $CRIP Program is in the annual budget for an amount in
excess of $8,000, so you can see that we need EVERYONE'S participation.
Why not treat yourself to the convenience of $CRIP
Its like a present…to be spent when you decide,
to be given as a gift - even to yourself,
to be profitable for the parish too…
JOY (Jesus for Our Youth) Prayer Ministry
Recently, our community came together to prayerfully make a significant financial
commitment to sustaining parish life. Will you now consider making a
spiritual commitment to further sustaining parish life by praying for the future
leaders of our church and community Through the new JOY (Jesus for Our
Youth) prayer ministry, it is our hope to have parish members praying by name
for all SMM public, private and home-schooled students in grades 6-12.
As a community, we believe strongly in the holy power of prayer to support, enrich, inspire and uplift all of God’s
children. In praying specifically for those who are facing the challenges and pressures of middle school and high
school, we can ask that God bless and guide them. By making a community commitment to praying for these students
we can entrust youth to God’s care, reassure them that they are not alone, and show them that responding to
the call to pray is an important and worthwhile endeavor.
JOY (Jesus for Our Youth) Prayer Ministry Frequently Asked Questions:
Why is this for youth in grades 6-12 only
Grades 6-12 are the ages targeted for diocesan youth ministry efforts. Of course, we encourage parishioners to
pray for children of all ages, but this is the age group specifically designated for this ministry. Messages from our
culture are many and loud, and we would like our youth to receive a message of encouragement to live Christcentered
lives.
How do I know who or what to pray for
You will receive a set of about eight small flip cards, each containing the first
name of a SMM parish student and a bit of information about him or her (school,
interests, prayer requests, etc.).
What is expected of me as a participant
Simply, prayer! Everyone converses with God in his or her own way. You may
choose to include your prayer partners in your regular daily prayers, while you
are driving or saying your rosary, at Sunday Mass and/or during a special time
each week using the contents of the prayer bag provided. All we ask is that you
pray specifically for the students at least once a week.
What is NOT expected of me
You are welcomed, but not in any way required, to attend the youth-oriented IMAJN
Mass during the school year; you are welcomed, but not required, to wear the SMM JOY t-shirt; you are welcomed,
but not required, to use the candle, rosary, and intercessory guide, etc. that are provided to each prayer partner.
How do I get involved
Please email Kathy Bergholz at kbergholz@tcces.k12.wi.us Karen Kain at kmkain@yahoo.com, or phone Cindy
Kyles-Werth at the parish office (725-4562). A team member will make arrangements for you to get your list of
SMM parish students and prayer bag so you can get started!

significant others are encouraged to join the graduates for this special celebration. We recognize that your participation makes this event
so meaningful for the graduates.
We are putting together an important DVD presentation out of the following requested pictures. This has proven to be such a wonderful
gift to the graduates. It is our desire to give one copy per graduate. Hence, we would truly appreciate everyone’s cooperation! We need
Our Conference members have been very busy in the past 6-12 months serving our SVdP
friends in need with many different types of assistance.
We have received an exceptionally large amount of calls for rental and utilities assistance
because of the high jobless situation. We also have served them with SVdP store vouchers
for furniture clothing and household items. In addition we have given gas and food vouchers
along with bus passes in large amounts. These are basic needs that every person should
be able to have in their lives.
We also do a large amount of personal transportation for our SVdP friends for doctor’s appointments,
hospital appointments, County and WIC appointments. In addition we will
drive them to dental and eye appointments when other transportation is not available for
them.
In the past year our Conference has taken care of folks in nursing homes with visits and needs and homeless folks upon
their being able to get housing. We have also helped with prison ministry and caring for folks referred to our conference by local
County case workers when clients are in need.
The St. Margaret Mary Conference has had the privilege of helping an individual solve unusual problems regarding the
funeral of a family member. We have also been involved in our second ―gas leak‖ of two rental duplexes in the past two wint ers.
The landlords often do not listen to the tenants but they do listen to SVdP members. Gas leaks are a life and death situati on!
The voice for the voiceless!
The Society helps the poor and the disadvantaged speak for themselves. When they can not, the Society must speak on
behalf of those who are ignored! Amen!
No work of charity is foreign to the Society.
Making home visits and helping these families is a spiritual rewarding vocation. If you would like to share these rewarding
experiences, contact Mary Ann Reinhardt, St. Margaret Mary Conference President at 920-725-1485
Please be generous with your donations of food or monies to help us serve the poor
The Divine Mercy Chaplet
By Dr. Robert Stackpole, STD (Jul 21, 2006)
The Chaplet …. was a form of prayer invoking God's mercy upon the whole world, and extending
the Eucharistic offering of Jesus Christ with an intercessory intention (entry 476):
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Your dearly beloved
Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the
sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
In fact, Jesus had attached the most extraordinary promises to the sincere and devout recitation
of this Chaplet. As He said to Sr. Faustina (entries 1541, 687, 1731):
Encourage souls to say the Chaplet I have given you. ... Whoever will recite it will
receive great mercy at the hour of death. ... Even if there were a sinner most hardened,
if he were to recite this Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My
infinite mercy. ... Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask
for is compatible with My will.
In the mid-1980's, for example, the people of the Philippines turned as a nation to The Divine Mercy through a daily nationwide
broadcast of the Three O' Clock Hour of Mercy prayers and the Chaplet. They pleaded with the Lord for a peaceful and
just settlement of their national conflict. Almost miraculously, a non-violent revolution did take place, and a democracy was
restored to that poor, yet faithful country.
Meanwhile, convincing evidence of a miracle of healing attributed to Sr. Faustina's intercession removed the last obstacle to
the recognition of her sanctity by the universal Church. As a result, on April 18, 1993, on the Sunday after Easter (Mercy
Sunday), she was given the title "Blessed" at a Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. In his homily at that beatification, the
Holy Father exclaimed:
Her mission continues and is yielding astonishing fruit. It is truly marvelous how her devotion to the Merciful Jesus is
spreading in our contemporary world, and gaining so many human hearts! This is doubtless a sign of the times, a sign of our
20th century. The balance of this century that is now ending ... presents a deep restlessness and fear of the future. Where, if
not in the Divine Mercy, can the world find refuge and the light of hope Believers understand that perfectly.
To follow our Lord’s directive to St. Faustina, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is being said at St.
Margaret Mary Church the last Thursday of each month@2:30 p.m. so we can continue this mission
and see the astonishing fruit that will be yielded.
