is caused you to respond in action What did you do

NEENAH
As one catchy country song goes, “Sometimes you’re
the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.” It’s true.
Today’s gospel shows us both sides of the story.
The rich man has it all—clothes, food, shelter, money
status, and power. Lazarus has nothing. I have always
taken Lazarus’ side, and am pleased that he is rewarded
in the end. After all, who wants to see themselves in that
selfish rich man
Then I look around. I do not think of myself as rich,
but I do have clothes, food, shelter, money, status, and a
certain amount of power. There are people like Lazarus at
my gate. I pause, then read the rest of the story. Like the
words from Amos in the first reading, and like the psalm,
it’s about justice. Not limited, near-sighted earthly justice.
No, God’s justice, where those who suffer are chosen first
and lifted up to be with the angels. Meanwhile, the ones
who have it easy on earth must look their hardheartedness
right in the eye.
The rich man ran out of time before he could change
his ways. But it’s not too late for me to “pursue
righteousness” and “lay hold of eternal life,” as Paul urges
Timothy to do. Unlike the rich man’s brothers would be, I
am convinced to move forward because someone rose from
the dead for me and for all of us.

Here’s what’s happening at your TCCES schools:
SMC
St. Mary Central hosted 8 th Grade Visit Day on
Thursday, September 26 th . Area students got the
chance to meet administrators, learn about our
one-to-one laptop program, academics, and co-curriculars. After
eating lunch at SMC and spending time with staff and students,
the class of 2018 received a class sweatshirt and attended
their first Homecoming Pep Rally!
Seton
Seton students will participate in MAP (Measure of Academic
Progress) tests over the next two weeks. These computerized,
adaptive tests are given twice each year to help teachers, parents,
and administrators improve learning for all students and
make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.
St. Mary Elementary
Saint Mary Elementary students are enjoying reading with different
grade levels. The fifth grade students are sharing stories
with the first grade students. The students are not only reading
but are also building relationships with one another.
St. Margaret Mary
PK children have been rocking in their school shoes with Pete
the Cat! It all started with the story, Pete the Cat; Rocking in My
School Shoes, by Eric Litwin. They rocked out to Pete’s version
of the song, “The Wheels on the Bus.” Pete helped the PK students
explore different places in our school. They sponge painted
their own rocking school shoes that will be displayed in the
classroom. PK Students now do attendance and lunch count
using the Smart Board by moving Pete the Cat under the correct
picture that represents what they are having for lunch.
St. Gabriel
The children in the Pre-Kindergarten program are talking about
friendship this week. They are exploring ways to make friends,
keep friends and what to do when someone is not being his or
her friend. Many social skills such as greeting others, sharing
and being kind with our words and actions are being incorporated
and practiced so that we can all be good Pre-K friends!

Religious Formation Classes – Sept. 29, 2013
Have you been curious about the religious formation
classes for four-year-olds, kindergarteners and first
graders, which take place in the school building
(kindergarten and first grade wing) on Sundays, during
the 9:30 a.m. Mass An open house for the program
will take place on Sun., Sept. 29, after the
9:30 Mass. Meet the coordinator and teachers, see
the classrooms, and pick up a sample of the magazines
which are used for the program. The Seeds
and Promise magazines focus on the same Gospel
which all of the parishioners hear each Sunday.
Refreshments will be served.

Religious Formation Board Meeting – Oct. 3, 2013
The Religious Formation Board Meeting will be held on Thurs.,
Oct. 3, from 6:15-7:30 pm in the Church Library. An open forum
is held at the beginning of the meeting, during which any
parishioner may propose an idea or express a concern to the
Board. Please use the Perpetual Adoration church entrance.

First IMAJN (Inter Parish Make a Joyful
Noise) Mass Oct. 6, 2013 - 9:30 a.m.
As you may know, for several years the
IMAJN Mass, a youth-oriented celebration
of the liturgy, has been taking place during
the school year on alternating Sunday evenings
in connection with the parish’s religious
formation program for public school
and TCCES students. Beginning with this school year, we will
be introducing the IMAJN Mass format (with students in various
ministry roles) at the 9:30 a.m. Mass once a month. The
first 9:30 a.m. IMAJN-format Mass will take place on Sunday
October 6. Religious formation classes will take place at the
usual time: Oct. 6, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Additional St. Margaret Mary Youth Events:
St. Margaret Mary Parish youth ministry has lots to offer our parish youth
and their friends! We hope that middle school and high school youth (grades
6-12) participate in some of the many fabulous activities, events, and service
projects. In the month of October we have the CROP Walk (to stop hunger)
on Sunday, October 13 th , 2013 at 1:00 p.m. and the Halloween Carnival on
Saturday, October 19 th , 2013 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Please read next

Virtus Training – Protecting God’s Children
– Sept. and Oct., 2013
All parishioners who work with children, youth or adults at
risk on a regular basis in our parish community are asked to
attend a Virtus training session for Protecting God’s Children.
The training is being offered:

Mon., Sept. 30, 2013 – 6:00 pm – St. Thomas More, Appleton
Thurs., Oct. 3, 2013 – 6:00 p.m. – at ST. Bernadette, Appleton

attended a previous Virtus training.

Revisiting Vatican II
Looking Back—Looking Forward
Learn about two of the important documents of the Second Vatican

St. Margaret Mary Noon Meal Outreach is hosting lunch at
Fox Valley Community Table on Saturday, October 26th. We
are always in need of lots of help whether it be purchasing food
and preparing it at home, volunteering at the meal site or simply
praying for those we serve. Sign up will be Saturday and Sunday
October 12/13 and Sunday, October 20 before and after

ATTENTION SENIORS OF THE FOX VALLEY
Tickets are now available for the Neenah High
School annual Senior Dinner Theater on October 17,
2013. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., in the
high school cafeteria, and the musical “INTO THE
WOODS” will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Pickard Auditorium.

BOOK DISCUSSION
On January 8, 6:30-8:00 p.m.,
June Ingold will be leading a discussion on the
book "Half the Sky" by Nicholas Kristof and
Sheryl WuDunn. This event is sponsored by the
Building Faith in India Committee and will be
held in St. Margaret Mary Friendship Hall.
We are in the initial planning stages but the
tentative format will include June's introduction
and remarks followed by informal small group
discussion and commentary.
Sign-up will be held in November and December
with more information to follow.
