Floor cleaning types
Correct selection of the device installation
units
A component part of the OBO underfloor
systems is the different
device installation units, which are
designed to accept accessories. A
key criterion for the selection of
the correct device installation units
is the type of floor covering. Here,
a distinction is made between different
care types. This is because
the device installation unit must
be matched to the intended care
method (dry, moist or wet)
should there be the chance of an
ingress of moisture. The standards
IEC 61084 EN 50085 regulate the
division into the care categories.
Dry care
The criterion for the classification
"Dry care" is primarily fulfilled by
textile floor coverings, which are
regularly cleaned by vacuuming off
the dirt ("dry"). Here, the standard
speaks of "liquid-free or low-liquid
cleaning methods" and also defines,
if cleaning solutions are
used, the quantity used must be
so small that there is no chance of
"pool formation or saturation of the
floor covering".
Damp care
Smooth floor coverings, such as linoleum,
PVC sealed wooden
floors, polished stone floors, etc.
fulfil the precondition for the use of
the damp cleaning method. The
building cleaning trade defines this
type of cleaning as a dust-collecting
wipe in a single work-step using
moist or prepared cleaning textiles.
