Anna Halprin: Experience as Dance. Experience<br />
“<strong>the</strong> Worlds of Anna Halprin” come alive in our galleries<br />
as Bay Area artists David Bernstein, Wayne Hazzard,<br />
Rhodessa Jones and Sots Hoffman blend passages from<br />
<strong>the</strong> biography with personal glimpses into period where<br />
Halprin’s work and <strong>the</strong>ir lives intersected. A book signing<br />
by Halprin and Ross will follow.<br />
YBCALIVE!: FLASHBACKS: ANNA HALPRIN<br />
AND BAY AREA ARTS IN THE 1960S<br />

For nearly six decades, postmodern dance legend Anna<br />
Halprin has been dedicating her life to art and her art to<br />
life. Join Halprin and some of her closest associates as<br />
<strong>the</strong>y come toge<strong>the</strong>r in a symposium/happening to pay<br />
tribute to over fifty years of dance innovation. The day<br />
begins with a Flashbacks Panel hosted by dance critic/<br />
historian/author Janice Ross that includes key figures<br />
Charles Amikhanian, Lawrence Halprin and Simone Forti<br />
sharing memories from <strong>the</strong> early years of Halprin’s illustrious<br />
career. Then participate in a re-enactment of <strong>the</strong><br />
Blank Placard Happening, a per<strong>for</strong>mance piece originally<br />
presented by <strong>the</strong> San Francisco Dancer’s Workshop and<br />
Anna Halprin in 1968 and 1970. An in<strong>for</strong>mal Q&A and<br />
book signing by Halprin and Ross will follow.<br />

TION IN MOTION WITH BEANDREA DAVIS, CYT<br />

Gain access to self-awareness and creative expression<br />
through <strong>the</strong> healing flow of writing and yoga. Toge<strong>the</strong>r<br />
in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, we’ll<br />
practice writing and yoga as <strong>for</strong>ms of meditation. Periods<br />
of writing practice will be interwoven with deep breathing,<br />
yoga postures and seated meditation, with an emphasis<br />
on letting <strong>the</strong> words flow through a place deeper than<br />
<strong>the</strong> rational mind. Yoga movement will encourage<br />
opening <strong>the</strong> body with compassionate awareness and<br />
deep listening. Appropriate <strong>for</strong> all levels of experience in<br />
writing and yoga.<br />
