A cry for peace
Oh! Another bomb! This one was much nearer!
Uh! Of these bomb sounds I’m getting wearer and wearer!
Why don’t they kill us in one go!!
Why do they have to take it really really slow!!
You must have realized what is happening
Why there are no people tending their lawns!
Why there are no drivers honking their horns!
Why there are no people walking on the streets!
Why there are no children buying sticks of sweets!
Yes, you have realized it right!
This is starting of World War III
Just because few terrorists wanted to set Kashmir free!
All have taken it as a matter of pride
And nations have already started taking sides
Soon will begin a World War III,
Which will cause the end of all prosperity.
Now millions of innocent people will die
Even then no one will stop to wonder WHY
These people do not value others’ lives anymore,
All I can say is that they are rotten to the core!
Now I must stop
Because I am burnt completely and my dress is still on fire,
And now the roof has fallen and my hand is pierced by a wire.
But I would like to say this before dying,
‘Foresee the consequences of war and avoid its presence,
Because on the door of death, pride has very less importance.’
My shadow
I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see,
He his very-very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow,
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For sometimes he shoots up taller as like India rubber ball,
And sometimes gets so little that there is none of him at all.
I rose up very early in the morning and found the
shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrogant sleepy head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
Discipline
Discipline is the need of the hour in every walk of life. Everything
from sunshine to sunset, change of seasons, rotation of the earth,
days and nights follow a disciplined cycle of rotation. Discipline
teaches us to follow the set rules of a particular institution. It leads
us to co-operate with a spirit of love for each other. Discipline should
be voluntary. Discipline is the secret of one’s success. A nation
becomes great if its citizens become disciplined.
I need someone...
I need someone as my friend,
I need some one to make my sorrows come to an end.
I need someone to share my joys,
I need someone to play with my toys.
I need someone who is alive,
To be there with me whole of my life.
I do not need one who makes a blunder,
But I really need one whose sweet stories make me slumber.
Vitamins are potent compounds which are found in small quantities in foods. They
perform specific and vital functions in the body chemistry. They are the electric
sparks which help to run the human body. They are best found in their natural state
in the foods which you consume. Vitamins taken through foods can have a
miraculous healing affect in a wide range of common diseases.
Vitamin A - INFECTION FIGHTER, SKIN PROTECTOR - The carrot has an abundant
supply of this vitamin. Eating carrots regularly with meals will build up your resistance
to disease; make your eyesight sharper and your skin glow. Keep your spectacles away by
chewing carrots.
B — Complex - THE ENERGY TEAM - These are a cluster of related vitamins that work together
for a common purpose just like a football team. They produce the energy from the food you eat to
play, run, walk and jump. The Wheat grain is super rich in B complex. Make sure, you eat whole
wheat Rotis (Atta not Maida), since most of this compound is present in the outer layer of the grain.
Vitamin C - THE GROWTH AND PROTECTOR VITAMIN - It is needed by all the body tissues
since it is essential for normal growth. The Lemon is the best source of this vitamin. Eating or
drinking lemon juice would help you heal wounds and also protect you from colds and coughs.
Children getting ample vitamin C have stronger bodies.
Vitamin U - THE DIGESTIVE HELPER - You need to have a healthy stomach to absorb whatever
you eat. Vitamin U is present in Cabbage. Eating grated cabbage with meals increases your
digestion capacity and keeps your body clean of all waste.
Are you taking your vitamins
The story of my birth is very interesting. I
had to pass through different processes before I
came to my present form. In fact, I come into
existence by the mixture of different parts of the
trees and purified. Gradually, after passing through
different machines, I acquired my original shape,
I remained there with so many of my brothers
and sisters.
After that I was put under the printing press
and various important news of the warld were
printed on me.
This is the point where my actual life began.
Lot of people are involved in preparing me. There
is a reporter who brings news to be printed on
me and editor who edits the news, a designer who
designs my front page to make me look attractive
and a sum of Rs.3 is fixed as my cost.
There are other lots of people also who take
Mansi, a little girl, got out of the bed after a
great effort and came on the terrace. She opened
her eyes and found a sparrow meaning ‘one for
sorrow’ on the water tank. It was a chill winter
morning. The time was 8 o’clock. She rushed
into the bathroom as she had to reach the school
by 8.30 am. She cycled fast and somehow
reached the school.The prayer bell rang. “Hurry
up, form a line,” the teacher shouted.
“Good morning, teacher,” Mansi said.
“Mansi, have you seen yourself in the mirror
before coming to school” the teacher asked.
“Is something wrong, teacher” Mansi asked
in surprise.
“How come you have worn pink ribbons”
asked the teacher.
“Pink ribbons!”, she got scared. She would
be punished; she would be insulted as she was
the only girl with pink ribbons. All these thoughts
flashed in her mind as she stood outside the class,
punished to stand there alone for the entire first
period.
“Ouch!”
One for sorrow, one for joy
Self-confidence
It is not what you are born with,
But it is what we have to live with;
It may sometimes appear as a pride
But it is a topic of importance, not to be set aside;
When you have lost all hope,
It is this, which helps you cope;
When you may feel discouraged,
It is only this, which gives you extraordinary courage;
You may have a large circle of friends.
On the kind of trends;
But when you go round life’s different bends,
It is only this to which you will tend;
And to life’s Zenith you will be sent,
This is what one can count on;
It is the self-confidence which I rely on.
Silence prevailed for one second.
“Get up, get up. Are you hurt” her friend
who had pushed her by mistake, asked.
“Let us take her to the class.”
She was made to sit.
“One for sorrow!”, the bird sitting on the
water tank again flashed before her eyes.
“Who is Mansi” the peon asked.
“Why” Mansi asked.
“Principal Ma’am is calling you.”
Hearing this, she felt like crying. She dusted
herself, crossed her fingers and thought that she
would get a scolding.
“May I come in Ma’am”
“Oh Mansi! come in my child. I have a good
news for you. You are selected to go to Hong
Kong for the Maths Olympiad,” said the Principal.
Mansi could not react as she was so happy.
When she went home, she smiled and thought
that it was actually ‘One for joy!’.
It was her fault, so she was punished. Her
friend pushed, so she fell down and it was her
hard work that changed her belief.
Three wishes
Said the first little chicken,
With a queer little squirm,
“I wish I could find
A fat little worm.”
Said the second little chicken,
With a sharp little squeal,
“I wish I could find
Some nice yellow meal”
Said the third little chicken
With a small sigh of grief,
“I wish I could find
A little green leaf”
“See here,” said the mother,
From the green garden
patch,
“If you want any breakfast,
Just come here and scratch.”
