3. Occlusal splints: types, indications and contraindications, patient
assessment for suitability.
YOU WILL GAIN HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN
1. Techniques of occlusal splint fabrication and adjustment.
Operative Dentistry for
Limited
General Practitioners: Keys to
Success with Anterior Composites
PROGRAM
Confused by all the commercial institutes and CE
offerings in esthetic dentistry Then come and get
the FACTS based on sound research and clinical
evidence. Come for a comprehensive, in-depth continuum
in conservative esthetic dentistry that includes Hands-On
multi-media presentations and informative seminars,
complemented by hands-on instruction in a simulation pre-clinical
laboratory. Join renowned UNC faculty for an extensive hands-on
program on anterior composites, posterior composites, and porcelain
veneers over the course of 3 modules on conservative esthetic
dentistry. You may opt to attend all 3 or select the program that best
suits your needs. On Friday, August 26, 2011, join Drs. Ritter, Swift,
and Vargas for a 6-hour program on “Keys to Success with Anterior
Composites.” On Friday, March 2, 2012, return for a 6-hour session
on “Keys to Success with Posterior Composites” with the same
faculty. Then on Friday, May 11, 2012, join Drs. Harald Heymann,
Ritter, and Swift as they explore “Porcelain Veneers.”
MODULE 1 – Keys to Success with Anterior Composites
Adhesives and composites have evolved substantially over the
past years. Their application has become increasingly simplifi ed,
but that does not necessarily mean they have become better. The
disproportionate emphasis on “new and improved” materials as
opposed to case selection and application technique is confusing
for clinicians. “What adhesive/composite system should I use
to obtain good results” is a popular question that is too often
answered based on personal preferences and weak evidence. This
UNC workshop will dispel some of the myths that besiege adhesive
dentistry and composites in the context of anterior restorations.
Participants will attend an interactive session with focus on the state
of the current adhesive and composite systems, and participate in
a hands-on simulation session where adhesives and composites
will be applied to several clinical situations (extensive Class IV
restorations, direct composite veneers, and Class III and Class V
restorations). The hands-on session will comprise at least 50% of
the program and participants will work in simulation stations where
several exercises will be completed in composite teeth that simulate
the optical charateristics and anatomy of natural teeth. Concepts of
shade selection, anatomical layering, and custom matrix techniques
will be thoroughly discussed and applied. The program is limited to
20 participants to maximize the interaction during the didactic and
hands-on sessions. All materials and supplies, including some of the
newest adhesives and composites on the market, will be provided
for you to sample during the course. You should bring
your magnifi cation glasses or loupes to the course.
