The ABS is Australia’s official statistical agency, recognised<br />

internationally as one of the world’s top statistical agencies.<br />

Our work impacts on almost everyone in the country,<br />

including governments, community bodies, industry,<br />

businesses and academic institutions.<br />

Each year, the ABS seeks to employ highly skilled graduates<br />

in Canberra and around Australia, who are passionate about<br />

contributing to the future shape of our nation through<br />

enabling informed decision-making. The ABS is Australia’s<br />

official statistical agency and as an ABS Graduate, you will<br />

join a world leader in its field.<br />

The ABS Graduate Development Program will provide<br />

you with:<br />

• A structured and tailored curriculum that will assist<br />

you to transition into the ABS and the Australian Public<br />

Service;<br />

• The opportunity to utilise your degree and encourage you<br />

to expand your existing knowledge and skills;<br />

• Enhanced statistical capability including an understanding<br />

of the statistical cycle and associated processes.<br />

The ABS provides a range of information to governments,<br />

researchers, industry, businesses and the community for<br />

informed decision making. This information is also used to<br />

understand economic, social, labour and other issues that<br />

are relevant to Australian Society, and to assess how our<br />

society is changing over time.<br />

Within the ABS, the Methodology and Data<br />

Management Division (MDMD) provides the expertise on<br />

methods relating to the design, collection, compilation,<br />

analysis, dissemination and management of statistical<br />

data. MDMD uses innovative and relevant research to<br />

continually improve ABS’ methods and approaches, and<br />

support the statistical areas of the ABS in implementing<br />

best practice in their data collections and data analysis.<br />

MDMD is seeking graduates with degrees in:<br />

Economics, Econometrics, Information Management,<br />

Market Research, Mathematics, Operations Research,<br />

Psychology, Social Sciences and Statistics.<br />

Applications for the 20<strong>14</strong> ABS Graduate Development<br />

Program open on 7 March 20<strong>13</strong> and close on 26 April<br />

20<strong>13</strong> and must be submitted online via the ABS website<br />

at www.abs.gov.au/careers<br />

To be eligible for employment with the ABS, you must<br />

be an Australian citizen by January 20<strong>14</strong>.<br />
