My speciality is quantifying earthquake hazard
and risk by developing mathematical models
and software to estimate the chance of the
ground shaking from an earthquake. This is
important for building codes and essential
infrastructure such as power stations and
dams. The software is the EQRM (Earthquake
Risk Model) which underpins the new
Australian earthquake hazard map:
