Watch Hill | Newport
Donated by Mark Kallick and David Moore
For the past nine years, homeowners Mark Kallick
and David Moore have hosted many charitable
events in their unique kitchen. Taking advantage of
an amazing view of the entire city was the “design
decision” that combined five distinct spaces –living
room, dining room, music room, breakfast room
and kitchen, into one open floor plan. Interior
Designer, Judy Holland of Greiwe Interiors enlisted
Kathy Dietz and Ed Kramer of CabitDesign and
together, the team worked to create a sophisticated
and functional kitchen. The use of top grade
appliance (Sub-Zero and Wolf), a custom door
style and range hood and a unique footprint has
kept this kitchen current.
Cabinetry is primarily cherry with Makoraoutlined
diamonds, as well as curly maple
accents. The island is both curved and angled. It
is an incredibly eye-catching kitchen, completely
original and a dream for cooking and entertaining.
Watch Hill | Newport
Donated by Curtis & Susan Smith
Photography courtesy of Cincinnati Magazine
Curtis and Susan Smith’s Italian travels inspired their hillside
Tuscan Villa overlooking our city. As depicted in the painting on
the range hood, a peaceful warm countryside environment was
the goal. Interior Designer, Judy Holland of Greiwe Interiors chose
CabitDesign to provide the cherry cabinets with a light chocolate
glaze to achieve the warm tones that are echoed in the African Sapele
flooring. Featuring Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, along with a
custom-painted limestone island, this “kitchen with a view” embodies
timeless design.
DEBORA’S
DeBora’s was founded in July 2010
by Chris Rohde of Cincinnati,
Ohio. Chris grew up in a family of
food lovers. His family’s functions
always included great food and
great friends. While Chris’ family
is very supportive of each other, he
credits his mom, Debbie, for his
adventurous and fearless love of
cooking. DeBora was his mother’s
childhood nickname and as a
tribute to the countless times they
spent together cooking as well as
her insistence that Chris never stop
pursuing his dreams, he decided to
name the company in memory of
her. Chris’ mother died of melanoma
in March of 2009, but remains
with him every day as he believes
each dish has just a little bit of her
influence and inspiration in it.
Chef
CHRIS ROHDE
A good chef is a combination of training and
inspiration. I try to gravitate toward sustainable
cooking. Early memories from my childhood
family vacations in Leland, Michigan helped
teach me the importance and benefits of
practicing sustainable cooking. It was while
walking through historic Fish Town that I first
learned the value of the freshest fish. I watched
boats bring in fresh salmon, lake trout and
walleye and stood in awe as the fishermen
cleaned the catch of the day right in front of the
customers and sold it fresh or maintained the flavor in their in-house
smokers. To complement the catch, my family would stop at one of the
numerous farmers markets and select the seasonal produce.
My professional training was no less inspirational. From my informal
role as cook for my Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers at Ohio
University, to the general business understanding I gained with an
Associate’s Degree in Business Management at the University of
Cincinnati, I was increasingly sure about my budding career as a chef.
My skill-based training at The Midwest Culinary Program at Cincinnati
State was focused and enlightening. My various employment
opportunities - as a level three Corporate Trainer, a Head Line Cook,
Sous Chef and finally, an Apprentice at the prestigious La Petite Pierre
in Madeira, Ohio, gave me real world knowledge and cemented my love
for food preparation. It was in this last position that I knew I wanted
to start a business perfecting the art of custom private catering. What
better way to honor my mother and duplicate my family history of
food, family and friends gathered in celebration
Old Stable Hill | Indian Hill
Donated by Peter & Vicki Alpaugh
Stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry and
a built-in espresso machine, which serves as an
in-house café, help create the farmhouse feel with
modern day conveniences. Originally used as a horse
stable, the homeowners chose to retain as much of
the rustic look as possible during the remodel of this
home. Keeping with tradition, a variety of family pets
come and go through the open floor plan, where the
kitchen serves as a gathering place for all to enjoy.
The white cabinets and dark iron hinges bring even
more authenticity to this farmhouse feel. Baskets and
other decorative accents hang from the ceiling and
coupled with additional room accents, give the room
a warm, welcoming feel.
