Dr. John Chai

Dr. John Chai is the Managing Director of Fook Tin Group Holdings
Ltd. and a Member of the Supervisory Board of its wholly owned
subsidiaries - Terraillon SAS (France), Scaime SAS (France) and
Arpege Master K SAS (France). He received the degrees of Master of
Jurisprudence and Doctors of Law from Loyola University Chicago, Master of Science
from Northwestern University. As a qualified medical health care professional, he has
also been awarded fellowship to several professional organizations. Dr. Chai is
presently a Professor Emeritus of Northwestern University.
Dr. Chai also contributes to the industry by participating as a Member of Hong Kong
Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Electronics/Electrical Appliances Industry
Advisory Committee; Council Member of Hong Kong-France Business Partnership of
HKTDC; Council Member of Hong Kong-United States Business Council of HKTDC;
Council Member of Sustainable Industry Council of the Federation of Hong Kong
Industries; Director of the Board of Business Environmental Council; Chairperson of
Sustainable Development Working Group of Business Environment Council in Hong
Kong; Member of the Trade and Industry Advisory Board of the HKSAR Government;
Director of the Board of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Manufacturer’s
Association; Committee Member of Hong Kong Aviation Industry Association, Council
Member of Trade and Industry Advisory Board (TIAB) and Small and Medium
Enterprises Council (SMEC) of Trade and Industry Advisory Board, HKSAR.

professional magnitude sensors, professional and semi-professional scales, consumer
scales, health care devices, medical devices and electronic appliances. Fook Tin’s
integrated management system was qualified to the standards of ISO 9001, ISO 13485,
ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Fook Tin is the first company in the world to be certified
with IECQ QC 080000 HSPM (an International Electrotechnical Commission Quality

Assessment Scheme for Electronic Components Industry) in 2006. The company is also
a United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) listed manufacturer of Class I and
II devices.
Fook Tin has been well recognized in the industry and was awarded the Environment
Performance Grand Award (Hong Kong Awards for Industry) in 2003 and 2006,
Consumer Product Design Award in 2006, Certificate of Merit in Consumer Product
Design (Hong Kong Awards for Industry), Gold Award (Hong Kong Eco-Products Award)
in 2005, Certificate of Merit in Quality, Productivity Grand Award and HSTP
Technological Achievement Award (Hong Kong Awards for Industry) in 2003 and 2002
respectively. The company also won the Certificate of Merit in Consumer Product
Design (Hong Kong Awards for Industry) for 1998 and 2000.
