Carbon-Oxygen Bond Formations Epoxidation-Oxidation Unactivated vinyl silanes can undergo oxidation to the corresponding aldehyde via the silyl epoxide through a 2-step epoxidation-oxidation sequence. 1-silyl-1,2-trisubstituted alkenes form ketones. Dudley and co-workers exploited the stability of vinyl TMS silanes to a number of reagents and conditions, unmasking the ketone at a later stage of the synthesis (+)-Methyl jasmonate: Suzuki, K.; Inomata, K.; Endo, Y.
