MIDTERM/REGENTS SCHEDULES<br />
Monday, January 24th—Friday, January 28th<br />
This year’s <strong>Midterm</strong>s and New York State Regent’s examinations are scheduled<br />
for Monday, January 24th through Friday, January 28th. There will be a separate<br />
mailing regarding the <strong>Midterm</strong> and <strong>Regents</strong> exam schedule. Please review exams,<br />
dates and times. No classes will be held this week, therefore, you only come to<br />
school on your scheduled exam times. The cafeterias will not be serving food during<br />
<strong>Midterm</strong>/<strong>Regents</strong> <strong>Week</strong>.<br />
Please note that the Spring Semester begins on Monday, January 31st. Students<br />
who are taking new half year courses will begin these courses this day. (Full<br />
year classes will obviously continue as they were in the Fall).<br />

Important Cell Phone Rules in<br />
Effect for <strong>Regents</strong>/<strong>Midterm</strong><br />
<strong>Week</strong><br />
Students will not be allowed to bring a<br />
cell phone into school during <strong>Regents</strong>/<br />
<strong>Midterm</strong> <strong>Week</strong>. EMHS will not collect,<br />
check-in, and check-out cell<br />
phones during any examination period.<br />
The school will not take responsibility<br />
for holding these items.<br />
Students who are found to have a cell<br />
phone in any examination room may<br />
be assigned a zero for the midterm or<br />
have their <strong>Regents</strong> exam voided.<br />
Phones in the Main Office will be<br />
available for students who need to contact<br />
their parents for any reason.<br />

EMHS Band Performs in Disney!<br />
T<br />
he <strong>East</strong> <strong>Meadow</strong> High <strong>School</strong> Marching Band made up of one<br />
hundred and seventy-four students will be traveling to Disney<br />
World in Orlando, Florida from February 11th through February<br />
14th. The band has been selected to perform in the Main Street<br />
Electrical Pre-Parade on Saturday Evening, February 12th.<br />
The band will also be participating in “You’re Instrumental”, a Disney Performing<br />
Arts Workshop.<br />
The Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Joel Levy,<br />
Mr. Stephen Engle, Mr. David Fletcher and Mr. Chris Hale.<br />
The Colorguard instructor is Ms. Monica Deckel.<br />
EMHS CHEERLEADERS HEAD TO ORLANDO<br />
T<br />
he <strong>East</strong> <strong>Meadow</strong> High <strong>School</strong> varsity cheerleading team, under the<br />
direction of Coach Tara Reilly, will be participating in the National<br />
High <strong>School</strong> Cheerleading Championship February 12th—14th in Orlando,<br />
Florida. The team qualified for this event at the Empire Regional<br />
Championship at Hofstra University on December 4th.<br />

TOUR EUROPE<br />
T<br />
he Model Congress and A.P. European History classes of <strong>East</strong><br />
<strong>Meadow</strong> High <strong>School</strong> are planning an exciting event for this<br />
year’s winter recess. They have arranged a trip to Rome, Italy,<br />
under the guidance of Mrs. Elizabeth Mc Laughlin. The week<br />
long schedule will encompass five sightseeing tours of<br />
Rome, Siena, Florence, Pisa and the French Riviera.<br />

In addition, the<br />
students will visit the Vatican Museum, St.<br />
Peter’s Basilica,<br />
the Colosseum, Pantheon, Duome in Florence,<br />
Cathedral and Baptistry of Pisa, and country of Monaco.<br />
Thirty-nine students, and six teachers will be enjoying this wonderful experience.
