Mark J. Ott, MD Medical Director, Surgical Services Clinical Program, <strong>Intermountain</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong><br />

Dr. Ott received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He trained<br />
in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Subsequently he completed a Society of Surgical<br />
Oncology fellowship also at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He practiced surgical oncology at Massachusetts<br />
General Hospital <strong>and</strong> was a faculty member of the Harvard School of Medicine prior to being<br />
recruited to <strong>Intermountain</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong>.<br />
In addition to his administrative, leadership, <strong>and</strong> educational responsibilities he is also a<br />
practicing surgical oncologist specializing in Hepatobiliary <strong>and</strong> Pancreatic tumors, Sarcoma <strong>and</strong>, as well as complex upper<br />
gastrointestinal surgery <strong>and</strong> other rare tumors. His leadership interests center on getting physician/surgeons to participate<br />
in clinical program building <strong>and</strong> outcomes analysis <strong>and</strong> research. He serves as the physician champion for <strong>Intermountain</strong><br />
Medical Center’s participation in the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. He also has a strong interest in<br />
workplace wellness <strong>and</strong> serves as a Board Member for the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA).<br />
Lucy A. Savitz, MBA, PhD joined <strong>Intermountain</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong> in 2005 as a Senior Scientist. In 2012<br />
she became the Director of Research <strong>and</strong> Education for the Institute for <strong>Healthcare</strong> Delivery<br />
Research.<br />
Before joining <strong>Intermountain</strong>, Dr. Savitz was a senior Associate at Abt Associates, Inc. in Durham,<br />
North Carolina. Previous to this position, she was a Senior health Services Researcher with RTI<br />
International, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.<br />
Dr. Savitz currently holds faculty appointments at the University of Utah School of Medicine,<br />
teaching Pediatrics, Family & Preventive Medicine, <strong>and</strong> Clinical Epidemiology.<br />
Dr. Savitz recieved her undergrad degree in Finance from the University of Denver. She continued her education at the<br />
University of Denver, receiving her Masters of Business Administration. Dr. Savitz recieved her Doctorate of Philosophy from<br />
the University of North Carolina.<br />
Dr. Savitz has been a member of many research panels for non-profit <strong>and</strong> government agencies. She has also held multiple<br />
instructing positions.<br />
Steven A. VanNorman, MD is the Chief Medical Officer of the Southwest Region of <strong>Intermountain</strong><br />
<strong>Healthcare</strong>. In this role, he provides leadership for process improvement projects in small, medium, <strong>and</strong><br />
large community hospitals. Many of these have produced improved outcomes while lowering costs. He<br />
attended medical school at University of Michigan followed by residency at University of Iowa. He is<br />
boarded in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, <strong>and</strong> Undersea <strong>and</strong> Hyperbaric Medicine<br />
