NEW MUNICIPAL TARIFFS 2010/11<br />
Die Afrikaanse weergawe van die Tariewe het op 10 Junie 2010 in die <strong>Worcester</strong> Standard verskyn.<br />
Council, at its meeting held on 31 May 2010, approved the 2010/2011 budget and determined the assessment rates and services<br />
tariffs for 2010/2011 in terms of the Municipal Systems Act, (Act no 32 of 2000), Municipal Finance Management Act, (Act no 56<br />
of 2003) and the Property Rates Act, (Act no 6 of 2004).<br />
While drafting the tariffs Council considered the following:<br />
• The tariffs are guided by the Integrated <strong>De</strong>velopment Plan;<br />
• To ensure sustainable service delivery;<br />
• To ensure the financial sustainability of the Municipality;<br />
• That all consumers are treated fairly and equal;<br />
• Complying with social responsibility towards schools, old age homes, welfare organisations;<br />
• Consideration of difficult financial situations by not shifting the responsibility on consumers;<br />
• Support of the poor through the indigent subsidy;<br />
• Adjustment of tariffs that were not market related; and<br />
• The development of Local Economic growth.<br />
1. WATER<br />
The water tariff increases by 8.50%. All residential consumers will receive the first 6kl free and an additional 4kl if you qualify in<br />
terms of the indigent subsidy.<br />
2. ASSESSMENT RATES<br />
• The assessment rates increase with an average of 15%.<br />
• The rate is 0.013248 cent in the rand for commercial and industrial properties.<br />
• The cent-in-rand increase for all other properties is 0.007073 cent, including residential.<br />
• The first R15 000 of all residential properties is exempted from rates. Farms that are utilised for Agricultural purposes will<br />
receive a rebate of 75%.<br />
The following indigent subsidies are granted where the total household income per month is:<br />
1.1 Pensioners/Disability grant<br />

4. SEWERAGE<br />
The sewerage tariffs for residential and commercial consumers increase by an average of 20%. Consumers who qualify in terms of<br />
the indigent subsidy will receive a rebate of 25% to 100% according to declared income of up to R3 500.<br />
5. REFUSE REMOVAL<br />
The refuse removal tariffs for residential and commercial consumers increase by an average of 8.57%. Consumers who qualify in<br />
terms of the indigent subsidy will receive a rebate of 25% to 100% according to declared income of up to R3 500.<br />
6. IMPACT OF TARIFFS ON HOUSEHOLD CONSUMERS<br />
NB! June accounts will only be delivered during the first week of July to the financial year end. A copy of the June account is available<br />
at the information desk with effect from 20 June 2010.<br />
