1.B <strong>CAPA</strong> MEETING:<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>CAPA</strong> Meeting builds awareness of specific needs of children and of the interventions<br />

that have been found to be most effective in achieving and maintaining good child health. <strong>The</strong><br />

meeting also is the opportunity <strong>for</strong> the community to select leaders and assign duties and to<br />

establish a plan of action <strong>for</strong> <strong>CAPA</strong> in their own community.<br />

OBJECTIVES:<br />

Sensitize community representatives on <strong>CAPA</strong>.<br />

<strong>CAPA</strong> prepares plans and implements activities to improve child health and survival in<br />

their communities<br />

MATERIALS: <strong>CAPA</strong> training modules.<br />

TASKS:<br />

Introduce participants to each other and to the facilitators and to <strong>for</strong>mally register them as<br />

<strong>CAPA</strong> members.<br />

Set the level of expectations <strong>for</strong> all participants and define roles and responsibilities.<br />

Select leaders and committees to facilitate the operation of <strong>CAPA</strong>.<br />

Present strategies <strong>for</strong> community based interventions to reduce the impact of childhood<br />

illnesses.<br />

Develop a work plan with the help of facilitators that outlines specific community actions<br />

to combat selected childhood illnesses.<br />

Set an agenda and schedule <strong>for</strong> Post- <strong>CAPA</strong> Meeting and <strong>for</strong> <strong>CAPA</strong> Committee Monthly<br />

Meetings.<br />

Arrange <strong>for</strong> representation of the <strong>CAPA</strong> Committee at the <strong>CAPA</strong> Committee<br />

Coordinating Forum, which is a joint meeting of representatives from all catchment areas<br />

within the LGA.<br />
