Student Ambassador Program<br />

The Student Ambassador Program was developed to give students<br />

the opportunity to participate in various public relations and recruiting<br />

activities at <strong>Columbus</strong> <strong>State</strong>. The primary objectives of<br />

the program are to provide students with basic leadership training<br />

and to allow students the opportunity to work in a number of<br />

departments on campus. <strong>Community</strong> outreach and community<br />

service is also a component of the Student Ambassador Program.<br />

Applications for the Student Ambassador Program are available<br />

during spring quarter.<br />

The National Society of Leadership<br />

The founding chapter of the National Society of Leadership (NLS)<br />

was inducted autumn of 2009. The mission of NLS is to provide<br />

leadership training aimed at helping students to become leaders in<br />

their chosen fields. The Society offers lectures from the nation’s<br />

leading presenters and a community where like-minded, successoriented<br />

individuals can come together and help one another<br />

achieve their goals.<br />

Special Events and Activities<br />

The Department of Student Activities and Athletics offers a<br />

number of special events and activities such as Welcome Back<br />

(Autumn), Spirit Week (Winter), Spring Fling (Spring), and Jazz<br />

in July (Summer). In addition, Black History Month, Women’s<br />

History Month, Asian-Pacific American Awareness Month, and<br />

other special interest activities are celebrated.<br />

The Delaware Campus host Student Activities there as well. Inquire<br />

at Student Services about any upcoming events.<br />

Student Rights and Responsibilities<br />

Student Conduct<br />

The aim of <strong>Columbus</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> student conduct<br />

policies and procedures is to educate students on their rights and<br />

responsibilities as college community members and to promote a college<br />

environment that is conducive to student success. Students are<br />

expected to perform all work honestly, maintain prescribed academic<br />

standards, pay all debts to the college, and respect the property and<br />

rights of others. This includes any activity, on or off campus that<br />

negatively impacts the college or its students or staff.<br />

Student Organizations<br />

In order to be recognized by <strong>Columbus</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

and be eligible for benefits of that recognition, student clubs and<br />

organizations must register as a new club or organization and annually<br />

renew the registration of an existing club or organization<br />

with Student Activities and Athletics, Nestor Hall Room 116, (614)<br />

287-3656. Registration signifies that the club or organization will<br />

comply with the rules, regulations, and guidelines of the college.<br />

Each year new clubs and organizations are added to enhance<br />

campus diversity. At the time of catalog publication, active clubs<br />

Any student violating <strong>Columbus</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> policies or<br />

rules may be subject to sanctions under the Student Code of Conduct,<br />

up to and including expulsion from the college. Concerns involving<br />

allegations or violations of student civil rights by employees, including<br />

but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and/or<br />

harassment, are addressed by the college’s EEO officer in the Human<br />

Resources Department. In technologies that include internship employment<br />

or clinical experiences, good standing with the cooperating<br />

employer or clinical affiliate is expected and is essential to continuation<br />

in the program. A copy of the Student Code of Conduct and related<br />

procedures is published in the Student Handbook (see below) and<br />

Student Handbook<br />

The Student Handbook is a useful guide to many of the college<br />

resources available to students. The handbook provides information<br />

on student rights and responsibilities, policies, procedures, activities,<br />

services, and extracurricular opportunities at <strong>Columbus</strong> <strong>State</strong>. The<br />

Student Handbook is available through many student services offices<br />

including Advising Services (Aquinas Hall 116), Counseling Services<br />

(Aquinas Hall 116), and Student Activities and Athletics (Nestor Hall<br />

116). It also can be found on the college website, www.cscc.edu.<br />

Student Services in Moeller Hall on the Delaware Campus also<br />

has copies of the Student Handbook.
