MALE & FEMALE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TREATMENT PROGRAMS
SPRTC specializes in residential services for adolescents with mental illness, including severe emotional
and/or behavioral problems. The program offers comprehensive services to support the emotional and
mental well being of the adolescents and families it serves.
Programming includes group therapy sessions covering topics such as grief and loss, anger management,
relationships, team building, and social skills. SPRTC has an exceptional mental health staff comprised
of master’s level therapists, Licensed Professionals Counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Workers
that work directly with the youth providing quality treatment. A board certified psychiatrist reviews
residents’ cases on a weekly basis.
Facility staff works to incorporate each resident’s family into the treatment process. This includes
conducting family therapy with flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the family. Additionally, SPRTC
will provide transportation and hotel accommodations for two family members on a quarterly basis for
out-of-state residents.
SPRTC recognizes the value of gender specific programming and is committed to providing quality
services with diverse populations. Research shows that girls and boys respond to experiences differently,
have different pathways to problem behaviors and often face different issues and challenges. Gender
specific programming goes beyond simply focusing on girls. It takes into account the developmental
needs of girls during adolescence, a critical stage for gender identity formation. It nurtures and
reinforces "femaleness" as a positive identity with inherent strengths.
Services address the needs of a gender group (female or male) in ways that are responsive to those
differences. Given the importance that girls place on relationships, gender specific programming
teaches positive relationship building skills. SPRTC gender specific programming provides girls with
decision making and life skills that will assist their development into womanhood. Gender specific
programming also
recognizes the dangers
and risks that girls face
because of gender.
Empowerment teaches
girls to use their
voice, to speak for
themselves, and to
recognize that they
have choices.
