‘76 Dance Club
If you missed our April dance you missed some
wonderful dance music and a fun time. Jack Yaus
played some great danceable music for our dancing
pleasure. As promised, I kept things short in
our Annual Business Meeting and election of officers,
so that we were able to return to dancing.
Your ’76 Club Board consists of David Rose – President, Ross Brown –
Vice President, Sharon Brown – Secretary, Jack Yaus – Treasurer, Judy
Rose – Entertainment, Connie Rives – Trustee, Darla Mattice – Trustee,
and Rudy Pittl – Trustee. I want to thank all of the Board members for
their willingness to serve.
You definitely do not want to miss our May dance because Cindy Mullins
will be teaching a Country 2 Step lesson from 7:30 to 8:15 pm followed
by our dance at 8:15 to 11:00 pm. Our DJ has indicated he will be
playing some country music during the evening so you will be able to
practice what you have learned in the lesson. The ’76 Club in May is one
place you want to be!!
Introduce a friend to our ’76 Dance Club Singles are always welcome!!!
Our mission is to provide everyone with a great fun dancing
experience. Remember, YOU ARE THE STAR at our dances. Please
take time to let the Board know how we are doing with your dances.

Swing ‘n’ Sway
Cinco, Seis, Siete, Ocho (five, six, seven, eight for
those of you out there like myself and do not
speak Spanish). Thanks to our Louise McCoy for
another great job of decorating. Arbor Hall had the
perfect look for the celebration of Cinco de Mayo
and as usual John Bramhall provided the perfect
music for the occasion including a Latin Two Step
and West Coast Swing. Several Senioritas showed up dressed in
Spanish attire making it easy to identify the theme for the night. To
top off a very enjoyable night we were treated to another first at
Arbor Hall with a Tango performed by a mother and son couple.
Thank you to Mary Rose Pica and her son John Griffin for providing
us with the perfect entertainment for the night.
The theme for our May dance is ‘50’s & 60’s. This is usually one
of our more popular dances maybe because a lot of us were
around back then and because it was such a fun time to be alive.
Greased down hair, tee shirts, white socks and rolled up jeans.
Pony tails, poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle oxfords. Just a
few things you will probably see at our next dance. Terry Cavanaugh
will be providing the music to get us ’in the groove’. It will be
a lot of fun and you are not going to want to miss it. Hope to see
you there.

The weather was sunny and pleasant
for the April 9th Dance(tonians) Easter
dance. Colorful bunnies decorated the
tables reminding us that spring has finally
arrived in the Miami Valley.
John Bucholz with his usual flair taught
a fun Merengue group lesson. John
Bramhall provided the fast paced dance
music for the evening.
Our next dance – Dance Fair- takes place on Saturday,
May 14 at Hara Arena. There will not be a dance at Arbor
Hall on that evening. John Bramhall will provide the dance
music for the evening. The theme is Star Power and the
purpose is to “celebrate” and “promote” Ballroom dancing
in our community. Whether you will be performing an exhibition
or attending as a spectator to enjoy the general
dancing, it is a classy evening spent with friends that share
your interest in ballroom dancing. Dinner, open dancing
and exhibitions are on the agenda for a fun filled evening.
The doors will open at 3:30 pm general dancing begins at
4:00 pm with dinner being served promptly at 5:00 pm.
Tickets are available from all the Dance(tonians) board
members or from your studio. Tickets are $60.00 per adult.
A DVD video of the evening exhibitions will be available
for separate purchase.

Rodie
Radermacher
The Dayton Ballroom Community has lost a wonderful friend, accomplished dancer and a
great supporter of all the Dayton ballroom dance clubs. Rodie passed away on Tuesday,
April 19th, after a valiant fight against lung cancer. He left behind his wife and dance
partner, Pam. For those of you who did not have the pleasure of knowing him, you really
missed out! He was a true friend, a caring person and just a genuinely nice guy. From the
first time that he and Pam came to a dance here in Dayton, they supported the Dayton
Dancing Community with all of their hearts. They gave to our clubs in any and every way
possible. From helping to “find” Arbor Hall, supporting the drive for the “Floor Fund”,
decorating for so many New Year’s Eves, attending dances in support of the clubs, giving
club boards a place to hold Board meetings and most importantly being the guy who gave
each lady a “Welcoming Hug” as she entered the ballroom. Stardust, ‘76 Dance Club and
Swing ‘n’ Sway, to name a few, were some of the dance boards that Rodie served on.
They were competitive dancers as well as social dancers. Wherever they went, whoever
they talked with, both national and international dance professionals—Dayton and it’s
great dancing community was always discussed and promoted. The Dayton Dancing
Community is poorer without Rodie.
Rodie was also an avid golfer. It did not matter what your handicap was, you could always
play with him and have “fun”. Another very important activity for Rodie was helping
children with Dyslexia. He was a huge proponent of “One on One” tutoring for these
children, so if you wish, it is the family’s request that donations be sent to: Masonic
Learning Center, 525 Riverview Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45405.
So B.T.U.G. please “KEEP ON DANCING”.

appreciated. Anyone is welcome to submit
information about their dances for possible publication. Submissions will be published
only on a space available basis, at the discretion of the editor, and may be
edited. Dances or other events whose dates conflict with the dates of any of the
three clubs’ dances will have a one line listing only. In order to be included in the
newsletter for the following month, please use these guidelines:
SUBMIT YOUR REQUESTS FOR INCLUSION TO THE
EDITOR IN WRITING BY THE 15th OF THE MONTH

message or provide it as an attachment to the e-mail in Microsoft Word (Other
