healthcare IT expertise of Siemens. SIS offers the only
perioperative solution endorsed by the American Hospital
Association (AHA). Its anesthesia solution also received
the exclusive endorsement by the AHA, and its rules-based
charging capability and perioperative analytics tool have
been granted Peer Reviewed status by the Healthcare
Financial Management Association (HFMA).
Enabling information flow with Soarian
Interoperability and appropriate data exchange between
Soarian® and SIS will facilitate continuous flow of critical
patient information across the perioperative department
and throughout the enterprise.
This level of interoperability helps providers manage
the complete perioperative workflow—through admission,
pre-op, intra-op, post-op, and PACU, to post-intervention

• “Notify Me” workflow, which notifies the clinician when
results are ready and when lab values are abnormal or
critical. For example, it monitors lab results for white
blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrict, platelets,
and temperature. Abnormal results trigger a notification
to a clinician.
• Inbound results or documentation, which triggers
a rule or workflow when the intra-op report is available
in Soarian.
Other house-wide workflows can be leveraged for
surgery and anesthesia:
• Urinary catheter workflow, which supports hospitalacquired
infection initiatives in post-op management.
• Venous thrombosis embolism (VTE) workflow, which
generates a notification based on patient data.
