MWEA ANTENORE C. “BUTCH” DAVANZO SCHOLARSHIP
$500 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
JUSTIN VANDERBERG
Michigan State University
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled
in his or her academic pursuits, at a Michigan
university.
• Applicant must be attending part-time, or
full-time, and pursuing a course of study
leading to a career in Wastewater Treatment,
or in some other aspect of the water
environment field.
• Applicants must be entering the 2nd year
of a two-year or a four-year program, the
year following receipt of the award, or in a
Graduate Level course of study.
Justin VanderBerg will begin his Junior
year at Michigan State University studying
Environmental Geosciences with an emphasis
in Spatial Information Processing (digital
mapping), and Geographic Information Systems
(G.I.S.). Justin is involved with our MSU Student
Chapter, and enjoys many extra-curricular
activities like golf, skiing, backpacking and all
outdoor activities. I have also recently found out
that Justin is the son of one of the MWEA Board
Members, Cheryl Vosberg.

MWEA JOHN P. HENNESSEY SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
NICOLE WHITE
Northern Michigan
University
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled in
his or her academic pursuits, at a Michigan college
or university.
• Applicant must be attending full-time, and
pursuing a course of study leading to a career
in Wastewater Treatment, or in some other
aspect of the water environment field.
• Applicants must be entering the 2nd year
of a two-year program, the year following
receipt of the award, or in a Graduate Level
course of study.
Nicole White is currently working on a two
year Master of Science program in Biology and
Ecology at Northern Michigan University. She
has been active with the NMU Student Chapter,
as well as many other organizations that relate
to her field of study, while consistently making
the Dean’s List semester after semester. She is
an enthusiastic and hard working person who
enjoys a challenge.

MWEA JACK H. WAGNER SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
CARLOS SANLLEY
Michigan State University
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled in his
or her academic pursuits, at a Michigan college or
university.
• Applicant must be attending full-time, and
pursuing a course of study leading to a
career in Wastewater Treatment, or in some
other aspect of the water environment and/or
environmental engineering field.
• Applicants must be entering the 3rd or
4th year of a Four Year program, the year
following receipt of the award, or in a
Graduate Level course of study.
Carlos Sanlley is currently finishing his second
year of a PhD program in Environmental
Engineering at Michigan State University, after
completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical
Engineering at the Universidad Nacional Pedro
Henriquez Urena in the Dominican Republic.
Carlos is active as an Officer in the MSU Student
Chapter, and a member of many other professional
student Associations. Carlos carries a 3.9 GPA
average on a 4.0 GPA scale. His Academic Advisor
says it best: “Mr. Sanlley is highly motivated and
very competent. He is an outstanding student,
extremely intelligent, and always excels in
whatever he does. I am sure he will be an asset
in the environmental engineering field, and
specifically the water and waste water treatment
industry.”
