MWEA ANTENORE C. “BUTCH” DAVANZO SCHOLARSHIP<br />
$500 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD<br />
JUSTIN VANDERBERG<br />
<strong>Michigan</strong> State University<br />
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/<br />
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled<br />
in his or her academic pursuits, at a <strong>Michigan</strong><br />
university.<br />
• Applicant must be attending part-time, or<br />
full-time, and pursuing a course of study<br />
leading to a career in Wastewater Treatment,<br />
or in some other aspect of the water<br />
environment field.<br />
• Applicants must be entering the 2nd year<br />
of a two-year or a four-year program, the<br />
year following receipt of the award, or in a<br />
Graduate Level course of study.<br />
Justin VanderBerg will begin his Junior<br />
year at <strong>Michigan</strong> State University studying<br />
<strong>Environment</strong>al Geosciences with an emphasis<br />
in Spatial Information Processing (digital<br />
mapping), and Geographic Information Systems<br />
(G.I.S.). Justin is involved with our MSU Student<br />
Chapter, and enjoys many extra-curricular<br />
activities like golf, skiing, backpacking and all<br />
outdoor activities. I have also recently found out<br />
that Justin is the son of one of the MWEA Board<br />
Members, Cheryl Vosberg.<br />

MWEA JOHN P. HENNESSEY SCHOLARSHIP<br />
$1,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD<br />
NICOLE WHITE<br />
Northern <strong>Michigan</strong><br />
University<br />
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/<br />
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled in<br />
his or her academic pursuits, at a <strong>Michigan</strong> college<br />
or university.<br />
• Applicant must be attending full-time, and<br />
pursuing a course of study leading to a career<br />
in Wastewater Treatment, or in some other<br />
aspect of the water environment field.<br />
• Applicants must be entering the 2nd year<br />
of a two-year program, the year following<br />
receipt of the award, or in a Graduate Level<br />
course of study.<br />
Nicole White is currently working on a two<br />
year Master of Science program in Biology and<br />
Ecology at Northern <strong>Michigan</strong> University. She<br />
has been active with the NMU Student Chapter,<br />
as well as many other organizations that relate<br />
to her field of study, while consistently making<br />
the Dean’s List semester after semester. She is<br />
an enthusiastic and hard working person who<br />
enjoys a challenge.<br />

$1,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD<br />
CARLOS SANLLEY<br />
<strong>Michigan</strong> State University<br />
This scholarship is awarded to a worthy MWEA/<br />
MS-AWWA Student Member that has excelled in his<br />
or her academic pursuits, at a <strong>Michigan</strong> college or<br />
university.<br />
• Applicant must be attending full-time, and<br />
pursuing a course of study leading to a<br />
career in Wastewater Treatment, or in some<br />
other aspect of the water environment and/or<br />
environmental engineering field.<br />
• Applicants must be entering the 3rd or<br />
4th year of a Four Year program, the year<br />
following receipt of the award, or in a<br />
Graduate Level course of study.<br />
Carlos Sanlley is currently finishing his second<br />
year of a PhD program in <strong>Environment</strong>al<br />
Engineering at <strong>Michigan</strong> State University, after<br />
completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical<br />
Engineering at the Universidad Nacional Pedro<br />
Henriquez Urena in the Dominican Republic.<br />
Carlos is active as an Officer in the MSU Student<br />
Chapter, and a member of many other professional<br />
student <strong>Association</strong>s. Carlos carries a 3.9 GPA<br />
average on a 4.0 GPA scale. His Academic Advisor<br />
says it best: “Mr. Sanlley is highly motivated and<br />
very competent. He is an outstanding student,<br />
extremely intelligent, and always excels in<br />
whatever he does. I am sure he will be an asset<br />
in the environmental engineering field, and<br />
specifically the water and waste water treatment<br />
industry.”<br />
