Position: Manager Business Development and Real Estate – Western Region

Position profile:
Reporting to the Director Business Development & Real Estate, the incumbent will assume a
leadership role in an industrial development environment where focus is to match rail customers
with rail served industrial lands, while optimizing the CN Rail Network. Utilizing your knowledge
of the rail industry, market trends for the movement of industrial products by rail, and your solid
industrial real estate skills you will support CN departments in developing opportunities to grow
the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Play a key role in the real estate development of existing or new rail served sites,
working with CN’s multi-disciplinary functions including rail operations, engineering and
sales and marketing
Provide Site Selection services for CN customers looking to connect to the CN rail
network
As the Leader on a multi-disciplinary team you will lead projects, identify, plan and
schedule project deliverables, deliver progress reports, negotiate and complete legal
contracts to completion of the project
Manage the British Columbia territory by gaining a complete knowledge of the CN land
and track assets and the market and economic drivers within the territory
Establish positive relationships within the brokerage community, municipal officials,
economic development representatives and key industry players in the Province
Negotiate and provide direction for the completion of complex real estate transactions
Know the industrial markets, understand locations and industrial trends within each real
estate market
The successful individual will:
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of rail related industrial markets pertaining to logistics
and transportation; knowledge of BC markets would be an asset
Have 5 years experience in transportation/logistics, infrastructure and/or civil
engineering fields

8-10 years of corporate real estate in an industrial setting
Knowledge of the land development process
Strong project management skills and ability to cultivate organizational relationships
Ability to function within a technical environment
Bachelor degree in business management, civil engineering or in a related field
Strong organization, time management skills, and attention to detail
Travel is required
