NEWSLETTER NO 16
THURSDAY 25 TH OCTOBER 2012
Kia ora koutou,
As this is my first newsletter I would like
to say thank you to the staff and children
for making me feel so welcome. I have
thoroughly enjoyed my first week here at
Naenae Intermediate and I am very lucky to
be part of such a wonderful learning
community. I will endeavour to continue to
lead the school in a way that staff, children
and their whanau work together to ensure
positive outcomes for all. It is hard to
believe that we are into Week 2 in what is
already a short term of 9 weeks. So much
to learn, so much to do, but like they say
there is no rest for the wicked!
Year 6 Visits
This week we are having the Year 6 children
visiting from various primary schools who
have enrolled with us for 2013 as Year 7’s.
We are sure that during these visits the
children will feel confident about their
choice to be part of the Naenae
Intermediate community. Our manuhiri are
given a guided tour and a wonderful display
of cultural dance, waiata and other
performances.
Sports
We have a number
of children who will
be representing our
school in various
sports competitions
this Term. We
have children
competing in touch,
softball and basketball. We wish the
children well and if your child is part of any
of these teams please ensure they arrive to
their games on time, they are dressed
appropriately and are excellent
ambassadors for our school.
Correct School Uniform
Camp Preparations
This is certainly a busy
time of the year as we
have most syndicates
preparing for camp with
Syndicate 6 leaving for
Teapot Valley in 2 week’s time. If your
child is attending camp please ensure they
have paid in full by Thursday 1 st November
and also ensure you have completed all of
the necessary forms prior to your child
attending camp.
Please support us to ensure that all children
are wearing their correct uniform. We have
uniform detention for any student failing to
wear the correct uniform. If you are
unsure or need reminding about what is and
isn’t acceptable, especially footwear, you
can check this out on our school website or
call into the office for a school prospectus.

New South Wales Maths and English
Exams 2012
We had a number of
children who competed in
the New South Wales
English and Maths exams
earlier on in the year.
Congratulations to all of
the children who
participated, however we
would like to acknowledge the following
children for their outstanding achievement:
Congratulations to:
Cameron Arps, Rm 18, High Distinction in
English.
Hazel Schapel, Rm 18, Dominic Basire, Rm 13
and Maxine Melville, Rm 18 for Distinction
in English.
Cameron Arps, Rm 18 and Rebecca Arnold
Rm 18 both for Distinction in Maths.
Leavers Dinner and Disco
During Week 6 you
will receive a
newsletter from
Miss Waikato
informing you of this
event planned for
Tuesday 11 th
December. The
Leavers Dinner is for our Year 8 students
only, but the Year 7’s can join them later in
the evening for the disco. This is a great
night and is a celebration of the two years
the Year 8’s have been with us. We hope
that all students will be able to attend.
However, there is a prerequisite for entry
to this event. All Technicraft, uniform,
Venture Class and sports fees must be paid.
Could you please support us with this as we
want all students to attend.
Cultural Evening
I hope to see you all at 7.00pm in the hall
next Thursday 1 November to watch our
students perform. You will see
performances from our Band, Cultural
Group, Production dances, Music Tuition
Groups and individual items. The concert
will be well worth the gold coin entry.
Review Day
Please don’t forget our Review Day on
Monday 12 November. Students will be
asked to stay at home on this day so
teachers can meet to review our Inquiry
Learning programmes. A relieving teacher
will be employed to look after those
students who do not have adequate
supervision at home.
