Expansors for Fixed Appliances
Expansors for fixed appliances are the only hygienic rapid palatal expansors made from Swedish surgical grade stainless steel. With the new
Leone Laser Lightning welding process, the 620 Expansor is better than ever before. Laser Welding of the extension arms into the body of
the Expansor is accomplished without the use of solder. This eliminates oxidation and corrosion in the oral environment. The arm and body
are fused together resulting in the arms becoming a part of the expansor housing. Both the directional arrows and expander sizings are laser
etched into the surface of the Expansor body. Expanders using a machine stamping process will sometimes fall out of alignment and compress
the body too hard causing the threading not to turn properly. As an added benefit we have laser etched a lot number on every rapid palatal
expansor, allowing for the maintenance of accurate patient records. The housing design is completely smooth eliminating any chance for plaque
building up in secluded areas.

A. Mechanical retention on the screw thread will
maintain a direct compressive force to suppress
slippage - Muscle Thread TM .
B. The thickness of the diameter of the guide pins
and the housing has been increased to allow for a
better transfer of force to the teeth without bending
the pins.
C. Two directional arrows are laser etched on the
housing to guide the direction of the key to open
the Expansor.
D. Maximum expansion limit in millimeters is
marked on the housing of each expander. Even
when the appliance is installed in the patient’s
palate, it is always possible to verify the remaining
expansion capacity in millimeters by calculating
the difference between what is marked on the
housing and the expansion already obtained.
E. Extended expansion capacity to the design of the
head of the thread allows the housing to expand
symmetrically on both guide pins.
F. IMPORTANT
Due to the precision matching of the 620 parts, it might happen
that a few Expansors will not open as easily as others.
Therefore it is important to test the Expansor before constructing
the appliance. Please use the following instructions:
To insure proper opening of the Expansor, the straight key
must be inserted HALF WAY through the hole and given a hard
turn using the thumb and index finger. Turn in the
direction of the arrows located on the expander. After the
initial opening, the Expansor will turn with proper torque
(See illustrations #1 and #2).
G. A finger ring safety leash key holder is included.
H. The Expansor key supplied with every device is made of
stainless steel and its tip is fabricated with a 45 degree bend
to facilitate the activation of the Expansor when in the mouth.
Warning. In order to safely secure the key to the finger ring
leash, first insert the key in the hole before snapping onto
button.
I. A stainless steel Arm Bending Instrument is to be used to
properly bend the arms of the 620 Expansor. It eliminates the
risk of breaking the Expansor arms.
