They are used in paint and coating industry. Crucial for the measurement in coatings is the contamination of the junction. This mainly determines the life expectancy of the sensor. In case of the Zirkon pH coating sensors the projecting junction can be protected with a membrane or a hole is used in combination with solid electrolyte instead of a junction. 50
