Cover Supervisor / Pastoral Support<br />
8.00 am to 4.00 pm<br />
Monday – Friday term time only<br />
WHEN REQUIRED TO ACT AS COVER SUPERVISOR<br />
Main Purpose of Job<br />
To supervise lessons, including the entry and dismissal of classes, during the short<br />
term absence of a teacher involved in In-service training, absent on school business<br />
or absent owing to medical or personal commitments.<br />

Ensuring that all children are safely in the classroom at the beginning of<br />
school sessions.<br />
Oversee the work set by the class teacher and where appropriate support<br />
individual students in the completion of work set.<br />
Ensure that all pupils clearly understand the instructions for the work set.<br />
Supervise and support pupils, maintaining good order and discipline and<br />
ensuring their safety and access to learning.<br />
Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being<br />
aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.<br />
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.<br />
Monitor pupil’s responses to learning activities and accurately record<br />
achievement/progress as directed.<br />
Supporting individual students in the completion of work set.<br />
Liaising with the absent teacher or Head of Department regarding progress<br />
of students and offering relevant feedback regarding completion of work and<br />
behaviour.<br />
Liaison with Heads of department regarding cover work.<br />
Registration of tutor/form groups in the absence of the tutor.<br />
Encourage the development of a positive attitude towards the school from all<br />
pupils.<br />
To undertake such other duties that the Headteacher may from time to time<br />
determine to fall within the remit of the post.<br />
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as<br />
required.
WHEN REQUIRED TO ACT AS PASTORAL SUPPORTER<br />
Main Purpose of Job<br />
To support and assist the school with the educational, physical, social and work<br />
experience needs of students.<br />

Support the <strong>School</strong>, HoDs, HoFs, FTs and SMT in upholding high standards of<br />
behaviour and academic performance throughout KS3 & 4.<br />
Mentor individual students and small groups that have been identified to need<br />
extra support in achieving to their highest potential in their exams.<br />
Support the learning of individuals or small groups of students who have been<br />
withdrawn from lessons.<br />
Organise the provision of work for excluded or other students that are<br />
unable to attend school, and make off-site visits as necessary.<br />
Implement support packages for students on part time timetable or those<br />
with other pastoral issues.<br />
Support staff in ensuring pupils produce and submit coursework.<br />
Support the <strong>School</strong> in administrative duties as requested.<br />
Provide positive support in the classroom for identified pupils.<br />
Accompany school visits and journeys as directed by the Assistant<br />
Headteacher.<br />
Attend courses that will assist in carrying out these duties.<br />
To undertake such other duties that the Headteacher may from time to time<br />
determine to fall within the remit of the post.<br />

ORGANISATION<br />
The post holder will be directly line managed by a designated teacher.<br />
The post holder will have daily contact with staff throughout the school, pupils,<br />
parents and Governors.
