NECAC hosting
meetings on
Community Needs
The not-for-profit North East
Community Action Corporation
(NECAC) has been meeting the
needs of people in Pike County for
almost five decades, but the agency
always has its ears open to ways of
improving the quality of life.
That’s why NECAC is hosting a
community meeting to take suggestions.
It’s scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
March 21 at the NECAC Pike
County Service Center at 805 Business
Highway 61 in Bowling Green.
The event is for residents, business
people, social service agencies,
community groups, churches,
charities and others.
“We’re seeking input from the
community across the board,” said
Dana Gordy, NECAC Pike County
Service Coordinator. “We’re looking
for what works, what doesn’t
and what can be done to improve
services.”
People are urged to come with
ideas to address job recruitment,
housing issues, education services
and other community needs. Participants
will fill out questionnaires.
Topics will include major economic
problems faced by communities,
developing programs that
address concerns and how Community
Action can help.
Data will be compiled and mailed
to those who attend, but the meeting
won’t be the end of it.
NECAC will then use the information
in developing programs
and services that address concerns.
The agency also hopes to start an
ongoing dialogue. “We hope that,
from these meetings, some of those
who were involved will want to
meet on a continuing basis to help
with needs in our communities,”
NECAC is a 12-county area notfor-profit
social service, community
health and public housing
Community Action Agency that’s
been improving the lives of the lowincome,
elderly, youth, disabled
and disadvantaged for more than
45 years.
NECAC and Community Action
have been innovators in earning
dollars through contracts and
grants with government agencies,
private businesses and other nonprofit
organizations. The agency
uses earned dollars to leverage additional
dollars that are put into
establishing new programs or updating
existing services.
