• Perform material and energy balances on typical chemical process units<br />

• Recognize the physics underlying a given chemical process and what data is<br />

required to solve process calculations<br />

5. Examinations<br />

<strong>The</strong>re will be one 75-min midterm on Monday March 1 at 6 pm in ICT 102. <strong>The</strong>re will be<br />

no deferred midterms. <strong>The</strong> final 3-h examination will be scheduled by the registrar in<br />

the final examination period. All exams will be closed textbook and closed notes. Five<br />

quizzes will be given in the laboratory sessions on Mondays (Jan 18, Feb 1, Mar 15, Mar<br />

29, and Apr 12). Some of the problems given on quizzes, tests, and the exam will be<br />

similar to the practice problems, which are given on the Blackboard site for this course.<br />

6. Use of Calculators in Examinations<br />

Any non-transmitting calculator may be used during examinations.<br />

7. Final Grade Determination<br />

<strong>The</strong> final grade in this course will be based on the following components:<br />
