OUR PLAN
For the past five years, the California Epsilon Company has been evaluating
long-term plans that will address the needs of our Chapter. Emphasis
has been placed on providing ample study space, a more competitive
physical structure, and access to technology to attract young men.
The California Epsilon Company hired SMS Architects of Irvine, California, to
design a facility that meets the ever-changing needs of undergraduates while
reflecting the heritage of the house that has served us well. The state-of-the-art
facility will cost approximately $5 million to construct, will be over 22,000
square feet, will sleep 50 or more undergraduates, and will provide 28 off-street
parking spaces. The goal is a high-quality, durable facility that will provide a
safe living and learning environment for decades to come, while maintaining
the storied history of Phi Kappa Psi. In all areas, the architect has been instructed
to address mandatory building and fire code requirements. In addition, we have
placed a special emphasis on the use of practical and durable building materials,
finishes, and fixtures.
While our Phi Kappa Psi experience has always been more than the bricks and
mortar of our Chapter House, our new house will provide our undergraduate
Brothers the venue to instill the values, principles, and goals of our Fraternity.
We have taken into account the needs of California Epsilon and benchmarked
those with what others have done, not only at UCLA, but across the country.
The plans and projects highlighted in this brochure help illustrate and explain
the intent to create a Chapter House that places emphasis on expanding and
enhancing the educational and personal experiences offered by membership in
Phi Kappa Psi—and maintaining California Epsilon’s rich tradition.

coMMuniTy
Phi Psi’s importance to the UCLA experience
must not be understated. Fraternity membership
creates a tie to the University by providing a
sense of belonging and community within the
larger University setting. California Epsilon
Chapter has a long history of both undergraduate
and alumni leaders involved with the
leadership of the University.
In summary, in order for California Epsilon to
remain a premier fraternity at UCLA, providing
increasingly important value to our
Brothers' lives, we must rebuild our Chapter
House to attract the quality of men about
which we can be proud.
