• Airport taxes and any fuel surcharge relating to Award Tickets must be borne by the Member.
The amounts applied are those in force at the time of issuing the award ticket and vary
according to the chosen airports of departure and destination.
• Once issued, the MultiClass Award ticket is not refundable but may be substituted and/or
modified, within its terms of validity, against payment of a penalty charge of 55 Euros or 5,000
miles for each ticket.
• It is also possible to combine various types of award ticket (Standard, SemiFlex, Flex and
SuperFlex products). In this case, the miles deducted will be equivalent to half the number of
miles required for the preferred type of roundtrip award ticket relating to the outgoing flight
plus half the number of miles required for the roundtrip award ticket relating to the return
flight.
• Should a downgrade be effected from a superior to an inferior class, or should an award of
greater value be substituted by one of less value, it will not be possible to recover the residual
miles and in no event will these be refunded to the member.
• For all that is not expressly set forth in these Regulations, the award ticket user conditions
contained in the paragraph “General Rules” and in the Regulations of the MilleMiglia Program
will be held valid.
1. For Award Tickets issued through Alitalia local Office, remember to communicate details of
the ticket holder’s personal identity document and a credit card number for debiting boarding
taxes and surcharges. You can collect your boarding card and ticket receipt directly at the
check-in desk.
GENERAL RULES FOR ALITALIA AWARD TICKETS
• The award ticket must be used within 12 months from the date of its first issue and it is not
refundable.
• Seats reserved for award ticket holders are subject to availability. This limit may also vary
according to the time of year in which the flight is requested.
• The number of miles needed for a rountrip award ticket with at least one of the flights in Areas
AZ0 to AZ3 is equal to the total mileage required for the longest flight on the itinerary. It’s
equal to the total mileage required for each of the connecting flights for flights in Areas AZ4 to
AZ6.
• If the award ticket is booked through Alitalia local Office, the reservation will be cancelled if
the award ticket is not issued within the time limit indicated by the operator.
• A penalty of 55 Euros or 5,000 miles will be charged for each ticket in the event of any
change being made to the passenger name, itinerary or airline; a penalty will also be applied if
a request to change the service class is submitted to Customer Service.
• No penalty charge is applied in the following cases:
- change of date or flight time
- change of passenger name or itinerary whenever a Flex, SemiFlex or SuperFlex award ticket
is converted into a Standard Award Ticket, or vice versa
- upgrade of an Economy award ticket to a Premium Economy or Business (Ottima/Magnifica)
award ticket or when a Premium Economy award ticket is upgraded to Business (Ottima/
Magnifica), and this operation is effected directly at the airport.
• For each award ticket, a maximum of two (involuntary) transits are permitted; (voluntary)
stopovers are not allowed.
• Award Tickets for open-jaw itineraries (landing at one airport and departing from a different
one) can be requested only within the same award area.
• Should any change of itinerary or type of award ticket (from Flex, SemiFlex or SuperFlex to
Standard) entail a number of residual miles, these will be lost and in no case will they be
refunded to the Member.
• On the day of departure it is possible to request an upgrade from an Economy award ticket to
another in Premium Economy or Business (Ottima/Magnifica), or an upgrade from a Premium
Economy award ticket to another in Business (Ottima/Magnifica), directly at the Alitalia ticket
office. Here they will change the booking and detract the miles equivalent to the difference in
value between the two tickets.
• In this case we suggest you to go to the airport earlier before the foreseen check-in time-limit
deadline for your flight. Recommended airport arrival times depend on the type of flight:
- 1.5 hours in advance for flights within Italy, except for flights leaving from Rome
Fiumicino that require passengers to arrive 2 hours before flight departure
- 2 hours in advance for international medium haul flights
- 5 hours in advance for international long haul flights
In some airports, passengers may be required to pay a ticketing charge to the ticket office, which
varies according to the departure and arrival points.
The service is available at the airports served by flights operated by the Alitalia group.
Upgrade confirmations are subject to the on-board seat availability. Confirmation of upgrades
to Magnifica Class is also subject to the availability of the meal service.
• Should the applicant be someone other than the MilleMiglia account holder, when the Award
Ticket is issued, a copy of the travel document will be sent to the e-mail address or fax
number recorded in the profile of the account-holding member, as well as to the address
provided by the beneficiary. If no e-mail or fax contacts have been entered in the accountholding
member’s profile, it will not be possible to issue Award Tickets in the name of
beneficiary customers (that is to say, individuals other than the account-holding member).
• Whenever an Award Ticket is issued in the name of a beneficiary, i.e. a customer other than
the MilleMiglia account holder, the beneficiary must be in possession of full documentation
relating to the award ticket when effecting check-in operations: i.e. travel document, personal
identity document, authorization written and signed by the account-holding member,
photocopy of the personal identity document and MilleMiglia Card of the account-holding
member.
