Course Description:<br />
Teaches those concepts required by mechanical engineering, machine shops and<br />
welding industries. Students will begin with simple prints and proceed to more<br />
advanced prints.<br />
Overall Course Objective:<br />
The student will demonstrate an ability to read, interpret & explain <strong>blueprint</strong>s used by<br />
mechanical engineers, machine shops & welding shops.<br />

Interpreting Engineering Drawings, 7 th Edition, by Jensen & Helsel.<br />
Credits: 3<br />
Transferability:<br />
Courses with a “B” designator after the number (such as DFT 110B) are college level<br />
courses which may apply to a WNC degree, but which may not transfer to UNR and<br />
UNLV. In some cases, these courses may transfer to other <strong>Nevada</strong> community<br />
colleges or to out-of-state colleges and universities.<br />

This course is one of the core requirements <strong>for</strong> an AAS in Drafting Technology <strong>for</strong> all<br />
emphases. It is designed to prepare students <strong>for</strong> CADD 100.<br />

REQUIREMENTS FOR HAND-IN ASSIGNMENTS<br />
& OTHER WORTH WHILE INFORMATION<br />
1. Use the copy of the answer page provided by the instructor to record your answers; this<br />
will be handed in to the instructor <strong>for</strong> recording. (Also write the answers on the<br />
appropriate page in the text <strong>for</strong> your own record.)<br />
2. All assignments will be due at the beginning of the next class. Homework assignments<br />
will be reviewed at the beginning of each class time.<br />
3. Grading. Grading <strong>for</strong> the course will be as follows:<br />
70% - Assignment scores<br />
10% - Midterm Exam<br />
20% - Final Exam<br />
Grading scale <strong>for</strong> the course will be as follows:<br />
100-90% A<br />
89-80% B<br />
79-70% C<br />
69-60% D<br />
59% and below F<br />
The last day to withdraw from the class is MARCH 29, 2013. If you are failing or want to<br />
drop, you must withdraw from the class. I cannot withdraw you at the end of the<br />
semester. Failure to withdraw by the deadline may result in a failing grade.<br />
4. Due Dates. If you miss a deadline, the following policy will be followed:<br />
a. One week late 10% deduction<br />
b. Two weeks late 20% deduction<br />
c. Three weeks late 30% deduction<br />
d. Four weeks late No Grade<br />
5. Attendance. Attendance to lectures is required.<br />
a. If you miss more than three classes, you may be dropped from the course<br />
at the instructor’s discretion. There is always much more than just the<br />
textbook content presented in class. Questions asked by students often provide<br />
valuable learning experiences.<br />
b. Plan on approximately 1 hour homework time per class.<br />
c. If you must miss a class(es), consult the syllabus <strong>for</strong> the assignments <strong>for</strong> that<br />
day(s) and complete them. They must be handed in on the day you return to<br />
class.<br />
