Newcastle Amateur Swimming Club NASC is our local competitive swimming club and is based at Jubilee Pool. They have a long and successful history of developing young swimmers to compete at county, regional and National level and beyond. If your child is interested in taking their swimming to the next level by starting to train for competitions then please visit the club website at www.newcastleasc.com or contact the club directly by emailing to info@newcastleasc.net. Alternatively, if you leave your contact details at reception, we can arrange for a club official to contact you to arrange a trial. School Holidays Lessons carry on during school holidays. We do not give refunds for lessons missed due to holidays. During the main summer holiday there will be extra classes. Details will be on noticeboards. These classes will be offering extra aquatic skills and areas that we cannot cover during the normal swimming lessons. 13

Developing safe entries including submersion, travel up to 10 metres on the front and back, progress rotation skills and water safety knowledge. Developing the understanding of buoyancy through a range of skills, refining kicking technique for all strokes and swimming 10 metres to ASA standards. Developing “watermanship” through sculling, treading water skills and complete rotation, also performing all skills to ASA standards. Developing effective swimming skills including co-ordinated breathing, developing water safety and understanding for exercise. Developing quality stroke technique up to 100 metres, incorporating skills learned and combining them to develop a linked routine and complete successfully an obstacle course that combines a variety or skills accomplished throughout stages 1 – 7.
