12 ◆ july 2013 Women Traveling Together ® September/October 2014 Santiago de Compostela September 3-11, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation Santiago de Compostela is the capital city of Galicia, Spain, and one of the most important places in Catholicism because it is reputed to be the place where St. James, one of the twelve Apostles of Christ, is buried. It was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its cathedral and old city center. Santiago de Compostela is the final destination of the legendary medieval way of pilgrimage. The “Way of St. James” is over 500 miles however we will only visit a portion of this route. This trip requires walking 2 or 3 hours every morning while visiting sights along the route in the afternoon. England: Exploring the Countryside September 4-13, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation The Cotswolds is the unspoiled region of classic English countryside. Prepare to be intrigued by the rich history, culture and the natural beauty of ancient limestone villages, rolling countryside, beautiful gardens and magnificent historic castles and stately homes. Numerous National Trust Properties abound in the Cotswolds, such as Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and Blenheim Palace. We conclude our journey with time in London. Niagara Falls & the Finger Lakes September 7-13, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation Spend a week enjoying the beauty of parks and waterfalls in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State and America’s most famous waterfall–Niagara. A drive along Cayuga Lake highlights NY’s wine country region and includes a stop for wine tasting. A ride on the Maid of the Mist is a must–bringing you up close with Niagara Falls. We end at Niagara-on-the-Lake, where we have the better part of the day to enjoy this lovely town. Montreal & Quebec City September 14-20, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation From the cosmopolitan city of Montreal to the old European charm of Quebec City, this trip to Canada will give you a wonderful introduction to our neighbors up north. Montreal is the largest French-speaking city after Paris and provides an amazing glimpse into the Old World of French North America. Quebec City has 400 years of history, and is one of the most charming cities in all of North America. The old portion of the city is reminiscent of a European village complete with a beautiful Chateau overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Africa & Madagascar Sept. 27-Oct. 10, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation From sophisticated city life to untouched beaches, breathtaking scenery and an opportunity to view wildlife in its natural habitat, South Africa has a lot to offer. After time in Capetown, we fly to Kruger National Park to see animals in their natural habitat, learn about the native cultures and more. Our favorite is “The Breakers” the Vanderbilt’s modest 70 room “summer cottage.” We stay in Hyannis and visit Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. On our way to Boston we will visit Plymouth and the John F Kennedy Presidential Library. A full day in Boston includes a city tour as well as time to explore the Freedom Trail. Bali October 9-18, 2014 Make a Pre-Reservation Known as the “Island of the Gods”, Bali is one of the most desirable destinations on the planet.
