“The most satisfying
aspect of nursing is the
diverse nature of the
job, the challenges, the
problem solving and the
rewarding opportunity
to make a difference in
someone’s life.”
Nursing Strategic Plan
2007-2008
Each year, the Leadership
the Nursing Strategic Plan to
keep us “on task” and moving
forward in our quest for raising
the bar for excellence. For a
complete view of the Strategic
Plan, please visit the Nursing
Services website.
Organizational Structure
and Management Style
Effective, visionary and
supportive leadership
is essential to our success.
Our shared decision-making
councils provide the framework
and opportunity for nurses to
participate in decisions that
affect clinical practice and
professional development. Many
unit-based committees exist to
enhance decision-making at the
unit level.
The Pediatric Unit formed a unit-based
Pediatric Nurse Practice Committee
and penned a mission statement for
their unit: “We are a family-centered
unit striving to provide quality care,
support and education to enhance
the health and lives of our diverse
population.” Patty Logan, RN,
Pediatrics, knows about that support
and education first hand. Patty joined
the Pediatric Unit after being out of
the nursing workforce for 14 years to
raise her family. As she prepared to
re-enter the workforce, she found that
PinnacleHealth was the only hospital
willing to give her the chance and the
education to re-enter nursing. She has
been a positive addition to the nursing
staff.
CCU nurses established a new
Interview Committee and a new
Practice/Education Committee. The
Interview Committee assures that all
new hires will be a good fit for their
unit. Many nursing units across the system
have similar committees to enable
staff to have a part in choosing new
staff.
There are many
opportunities for
advancement throughout our
nursing units. Congratulations
to the following nurses for their
