Our headmaster is Mr. Vollmers and his deputy is Mr. Schimsheimer.<br />
The coordinator of the 5 th and 6 th grade is Mr. Schreindorfer, of the 7 th<br />
and 8 th grade is Mrs. Ahle and of the 9 th and 10 th grade is Mrs.<br />
Meuer.Our educational coordinator is Mr. Habel.<br />

Our all-day integrated comprehensive <strong>school</strong> has approx. 1200 pupils in<br />
50 classes and approx. 90 teachers. We have had 2 educational and<br />
social workers for five years now.<br />
Our <strong>school</strong> offers the following final examinations:<br />
Extended elementary <strong>school</strong> exam (Hauptschulabschluss)<br />
Qualified extended elementary <strong>school</strong> exam (Erweiterten<br />
Hauptschulabschluss)<br />
Intermediate high <strong>school</strong> certificate (Realschulabschluss)<br />
Entrance qualification to senior high <strong>school</strong> (6 th form)<br />
(Zulassung für die Oberstufe)<br />
We have major and minor subjects and have to choose among a few<br />
optional compulsory subjects (ecology, polytechnic, cooking, etc.).<br />
Between the 6 th and 8 th grade, <strong>our</strong> major subjects are divided into 2 sets:<br />
E for advanced and G for elementary. In the 9 th and 10 th grade there are 3<br />
sets: C elementary, B intermediate and A advanced. We can switch from<br />
one level to the other depending on <strong>our</strong> performance.<br />
In addition we have remedial teaching, project lessons and extracurricular<br />
activities. Pupils with a foreign background are offered lessons<br />
in various languages.<br />
Each lesson lasts 45 minutes with two longer breaks of 20 minutes in the<br />
morning, 1 h<strong>our</strong> in the afternoon and other shorter breaks between 5 and<br />
10 minutes.<br />
Our <strong>school</strong> has got one big library, a canteen and a cafeteria.<br />
We have contacts with foreign <strong>school</strong>s in Portugal, France, Lithuania, the<br />
Czech Republic and Great Britain.<br />

There are 7 team staff rooms for each grade and 1 common big staff<br />
room where teachers from all grades can meet.<br />

Each grade has 8 classes and 1 team staff room. Some of the grades<br />
share an inner garden. There are social areas, 1 for each grade, where<br />
students can spend their time during the breaks. In some classes the<br />
students are allowed to use the space for their team work.<br />

Approximately 250 students visit the canteen on the days it is open The<br />
different meals cost between DM 2.00 and DM 6.50. The students<br />
prepare <strong>about</strong> 260 meals per day. Students, teachers and also parents<br />
visit the canteen and enjoy the food.<br />

during afternoon break (from 12.10 till 14.00)<br />
Our cafeteria has been there for ten years now.About 600 students visit<br />
the cafeteria daily. The most popular food is hot dogs. The cafeteria also<br />
offers delicious sandwiches, pastries, cakes, candy bars, yoghurt and all<br />
kinds of soft beverages.<br />

These facilities are run by <strong>our</strong> social workers and volunteer students. In<br />
the so-alled cafe Wundertüte you can buy self-made candy and popcorn<br />
or you can just sit around and enjoy the nice atmosphere. The cafe is<br />
open during the afternoon break.<br />
At the "rent-a-toy" room next to the cafe Wundertüte, the students can<br />
borrow different games in exchange for a deposit.<br />
The library offers a wide range of books from different areas such as the<br />
animal world, different languages, science, adventure, etc. It is a good<br />
place for students when they work on their different projects.<br />

Six classes can be taught at the same time in <strong>our</strong> two big gyms. Once a<br />
year there is a sport competition for grades 5 to 8. Our gyms are<br />
perfectly equipped. One gym has seating for an audience.<br />

There are lots of activities and projects in <strong>our</strong> <strong>school</strong>, for example:<br />
computer, photo lab, choir, Big Band, wood working, gardening, <strong>school</strong><br />
newspaper, theatre, homework help and remedial teaching. Older<br />
students help the younger ones with homework. Students having<br />
difficulties in the so-called problematic subjects can benefit from<br />
participating in remedial teaching.<br />

Our choir and Big Band perform two times a year in front of an<br />
enthusiastic audience and in well-visited concert halls.<br />

Our <strong>school</strong> has got two computer rooms with <strong>about</strong> 18 computers and<br />
some internet access.<br />
There are a few gardens which are cared for by members of the project<br />
group gardening.<br />

Students can work in the areas of art and polytechnic in <strong>our</strong> workshops<br />
with different materials (wood, clay, plastic, metal).<br />

This <strong>brochure</strong> <strong>about</strong> <strong>our</strong> <strong>school</strong> is the result of the English language<br />
project in the <strong>school</strong> year 2000/2001.<br />
