The so called marriage point is where the body is lowered over the driving package and the two units
become one. It is from this point onward that we can refer to the one unit as a car. The 41 bolts are
tightened automatically, which is an ergonomical improvement from previously when this work was
done by hand.
The factory tour
The tour starts at Volvo Cars Visitor Centre and then goes
through the pressing plant, the body shop and the assembly
plant. The Volvo factory is modern and equipped with many
ergonomical solutions. For example the assembly staff work
on rolling sidewalks, moving with the vehicles along the production
line. Here the floors are made of springy wood to minimise strain
on legs, knees and back. In the factory there are also height
adjustable floors to enable a more ergonomic working position.
