ABOUT MILAN
Milan is the engine room of Italy’s economy and home of the stock exchange.
Tourist places of interest include the elaborate cathedral Duomo di Milano,
Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’, La Scala Opera House and Castello
Sforzesco (Sforza Castle).
What really sets Milan apart, though, is its creative streak. Armani, Versace,
Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Pucci, Gucci and many more took off on Milan’s runways.
Fashionistas make a pilgrimage here to shop at the designers’ flagship stores in the
Quadrilatero d’Oro (Golden Quad).
The city also harbours some lesser-known attractions such as the Navigli’s canal-side cafés
and old-fashioned gelaterie (ice-cream shops) and the design district of Isola.
By far the foremost tourist attraction of the city is the main piazza (city square) called
Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) named after, and dominated by, the Milan
Cathedral (the Duomo). The piazza marks the centre of the city, both in a geographic
sense and because of its importance from an artistic, cultural, and social point of
view. Rectangular in shape, with an overall area of 17.000 m2 (about 183.000 Sq Ft),
the piazza includes some of the most important buildings in Milan. The statue in the
centre is of Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of unified Italy, sitting astride his horse.
Other sites on the square are the Palazzo dell’Arengario, Palazzo Carminati, Palazzo
dei Portici Settentrionali, Palazzo dei Portici Meridonali, and the Palazzo Reale.
A must-see in Milan is the Duomo di Milano. (The structure took almost 500 years to
build and is the fourth largest in Europe and the second largest Catholic cathedral in
the world. At the time it was built it could hold the entire population of Milan, 40,000
people. The exterior is striking with it’s many spires and the interior is just huge. You
can climb the stairs to the roof for 5€ or take the elevator for 8€. Well worth the price if
you want the see the gargoyles and statues up close or you want a great view of the city.
Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ at the Santa Maria delle Grazie is Italy’s most
famous painting. It’s also one of the most visited. Be sure you order your tickets far
ahead to see the masterpiece.
Supporters will enter the stadium via Ingresso
(Gate) 5.
A search by local police will be made before you
reach Gate 5.
All tickets will be checked before you get to the
turnstiles at Gate 5. To comply with Italian ticket laws
we have provided AC Milan with the names and dates of
birth for all supporters that have purchased tickets. Both
ticket and photographic ID are required to gain access to the
stadium. Access to the stadium is via electronic turnstiles,
please ensure your ticket(s) are kept in good condition.
4
When through the turnstiles
supporters should access the
away section via Torre (Tower) 3. This
tower is a gradual winding walkway
up to the third tier (Green section)
and could take approximately 10
minutes to navigate so allow plenty
of time for your arrival.
5
Once in the away section please
refer to your ticket to find your
allocated sector which will be anything
from sector 345 – 360. Once in your sector
seating is reserved.
6
The away section is an exclusive segregated
enclosure in the very top tier of the stadium. Viewing
from here is unrestricted but far from the field of play. At
the front of the away section is a perspex screen with
netting going up to the roof of the stadium. The section is
very steep with barriers in front of every row of seats.
