DESCRIPTION<br />

• <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d ® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong> is a unique, low VOC, 100% acrylic, ultra premium quality undercoat with<br />

virtually no paint odour. This product forms part of <strong>Wattyl</strong>’s “green” low environmental impact painting system for interiors.<br />

• <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d ® painting system brings a fresh approach to the way you decorate your interior with a choice of<br />

designer colours and is available in elegant finishes.<br />

New Zealand Green Building Council standard for the maximum VOC level in interior silk<br />

washable paint is 60g/litre.<br />

RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATE CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURE<br />

• Suitable for use as an undercoat on new unpainted fibre cement, cement render, brick, paper-faced plasterboard, interior<br />

timber and previously painted surfaces in sound condition.<br />

• Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and grease. All loose, peeling or flaking material must be removed. Sand<br />

the surface smooth and remove all dust. Sand enamel painted surfaces to remove gloss.<br />

• Fill holes and cracks with a suitable filler and sand lightly to an even finish.<br />

• If mould is present, clean surface with household bleach then rinse well with clean water.<br />

• For specific substrate preparation, see relevant specification sheets.<br />

• Application should not be carried out if the air temperature or the substrate temperature is below 10°C or above 35°C. The<br />

temperature must not fall below 10°C during the drying process.<br />

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE<br />

• Stir contents thoroughly with a flat stirrer before and during use.<br />

• Apply one (1) or two (2) coats to a correctly prepared surface by brush, roller or spray equipment.<br />

• Lightly sand between coats.<br />

• Previously painted surfaces water based – No undercoat required on sound surfaces. Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong><br />

<strong>Design</strong> i.d® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong> where required to create an even base over patched or damaged surfaces, or to maximise<br />

opacity of topcoat.<br />

• Previously painted surfaces oil based – Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong>.<br />

• Bare timber and MDF - Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong>. On tannin rich timber apply<br />

one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> AquaPrep <strong>Acrylic</strong> Timber Primer.<br />

• Unpainted brick, cement, stone, fibro - Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong>.<br />

• New paper-faced plasterboard - Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Design</strong> i.d® <strong>Acrylic</strong> <strong>Sealer</strong> <strong>Undercoat</strong>.<br />

• New plaster surfaces - Apply one (1) coat of <strong>Wattyl</strong> MasterPrep Pigmented <strong>Sealer</strong>.<br />

• Ensure brushes and rollers are only slightly damp with water before use.<br />

• Cover brushes, rollers and trays with plastic during work breaks.<br />

• Keep lid on cans.<br />

SAFETY DATA<br />

• Caution Provide adequate ventilation during use.<br />

• Spills and Disposal Do not allow spilt material to enter drains or other watercourses. Absorb spills with sand or other inert<br />

material. Unwanted paint should be kept in a sealed container, such as an empty paint can, and<br />

disposed of via special waste collection services. Check with your local Council regarding the<br />

disposal of empty paint containers.<br />

• M.S.D.S. A Material Safety Data Sheet (M.S.D.S.) is available on request.<br />

• First Aid:<br />

If swallowed do not induce vomiting. Give plenty of water to drink. Contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone 0800<br />

764766 (New Zealand).<br />

If in eyes, hold eyes open and flood with water for at least 15 minutes. Contact a doctor if any irritation occurs.<br />

If on skin remove contaminated clothing, wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Do not use<br />

solvents.<br />

If affected by inhalation remove person to fresh air. If breathing difficulties persist or occur later, contact a doctor.<br />

ADDITIONAL DATA<br />

• Available in 1, 2, 4 and 10 litre containers.<br />

• Containers must be secured and stored upright during transit.<br />

• Containers must not be exposed to excessive heat or cold. Do not store containers in areas susceptible to frost.<br />

• Avoid exposure to excessive steam or condensation for 48 hours after application of the final topcoat.<br />
