<strong>Inver</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> Foundation<br />

In <strong>2009</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Inver</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> Foundation continued<br />

<strong>to</strong> fulfi ll its mission <strong>to</strong> help students succeed by<br />

awarding $154,625 in scholarships <strong>to</strong> 220 students.<br />

Over <strong>the</strong> last three years, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Inver</strong> <strong>Hills</strong><br />

<strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> Foundation has distributed<br />

over $444,346 in scholarship funds <strong>to</strong> 555 students.<br />

Challenge grants from <strong>the</strong> Ka<strong>the</strong>rine B. Andersen<br />

Fund of The Saint Paul Foundation and <strong>the</strong><br />

Friends of Dennis Anderson were matched by<br />

alumni <strong>to</strong> grow <strong>the</strong> Alumni Scholarship Endowment<br />

Fund <strong>to</strong> over $67,000.<br />

The Foundation kicked off <strong>the</strong> Forty for 40<br />

Legacy Society Campaign <strong>to</strong> grow <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> scholarship<br />

endowment <strong>to</strong> $1,000,000. A matching grant<br />

of $125,000 from <strong>the</strong> Ka<strong>the</strong>rine B. Andersen fund<br />

of The Saint Paul Foundation will help reach this<br />

goal.<br />

Gifts from <strong>the</strong> Kopp Foundation and <strong>Inver</strong><br />

<strong>Hills</strong> employees allowed <strong>the</strong> foundation <strong>to</strong> give<br />

over $17,000 in small, emergency grants <strong>to</strong> students<br />

<strong>to</strong> help <strong>the</strong>m stay in college.<br />

The popular Forrest Glewwe Golf Classic, held<br />

each year in June, raised over $25,000 <strong>to</strong> support<br />

<strong>the</strong> work of <strong>the</strong> Foundation.<br />

IHCC’s Center for Professional and Workforce<br />

Development implemented <strong>the</strong> following Minnesota<br />

Job Skills Partnership and National Science<br />

Foundation grants during FY09.<br />

• $377,000 <strong>to</strong> provide online safety training for<br />

3000 employees at Xcel Energy<br />

• $300,000 <strong>to</strong> provide quality processes training<br />

for 250 employees at Regina Medical Center<br />

• $286,000 <strong>to</strong> provide dementia training for 400<br />

employees at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center.<br />

• $243,000 <strong>to</strong> provide IP telephony training<br />

for 110 employees at Thomson Reuters, Blue<br />

Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, US Bank,<br />

Qwest Communications, Technology Management<br />

Corporation, TelEd, and Spamlink.<br />

• $78,320 from <strong>the</strong> National Science Foundation<br />

<strong>to</strong> provide high school outreach, student<br />

internships, faculty development, and curriculum<br />

in VoIP.<br />

The college continues <strong>to</strong> manage<br />

its budget and resources effectively,<br />

look ahead <strong>to</strong> identify needs and<br />

plan for change, review and adjust<br />

operations, and seek out partners<br />

<strong>to</strong> provide fi nancial and in-kind<br />

support.
