Emergency Medical Services
In partnership with Mayor Chris Coleman’s
Ready for School, Ready for Life education initiative;
City of St. Paul Youth Job Corps; and Ramsey
County Work Force, the EMS Department at Inver
Hills set up a fi rst-in-the-state Emergency Medical
Services Academy this year.
In another effort to target key populations, Inver
Hills has partnered with Allina Medical Transportation
and returning veterans to help them advance
their careers in emergency health services.
For those EMS students who wish to continue

their education into the expanding nursing fi eld,
the EMS and Nursing departments have partnered
to allow certifi ed paramedics to have their credits
accepted into the Registered Nursing program,
cutting almost a year out of the curriculum.
The Inver Hills EMS Student Association has
continued its outreach efforts in the community
with such activities as safety programming to fi rst
and second graders in St. Paul and Dakota County,
and logistic and medical support to over 50 bicyclists
on the EMS Memorial Bike Ride to honor
EMS members who have given their lives while
helping others.
