Emergency Medical Services<br />
In partnership with Mayor Chris Coleman’s<br />
Ready for School, Ready for Life education initiative;<br />
City of St. Paul Youth Job Corps; and Ramsey<br />
County Work Force, <strong>the</strong> EMS Department at <strong>Inver</strong><br />
<strong>Hills</strong> set up a fi rst-in-<strong>the</strong>-state Emergency Medical<br />
Services Academy this year.<br />
In ano<strong>the</strong>r effort <strong>to</strong> target key populations, <strong>Inver</strong><br />
<strong>Hills</strong> has partnered with Allina Medical Transportation<br />
and returning veterans <strong>to</strong> help <strong>the</strong>m advance<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir careers in emergency health services.<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir education in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> expanding nursing fi eld,<br />
<strong>the</strong> EMS and Nursing departments have partnered<br />
<strong>to</strong> allow certifi ed paramedics <strong>to</strong> have <strong>the</strong>ir credits<br />
accepted in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Registered Nursing program,<br />
cutting almost a year out of <strong>the</strong> curriculum.<br />
The <strong>Inver</strong> <strong>Hills</strong> EMS Student Association has<br />
continued its outreach efforts in <strong>the</strong> community<br />
with such activities as safety programming <strong>to</strong> fi rst<br />
and second graders in St. Paul and Dakota County,<br />
and logistic and medical support <strong>to</strong> over 50 bicyclists<br />
on <strong>the</strong> EMS Memorial Bike Ride <strong>to</strong> honor<br />
EMS members who have given <strong>the</strong>ir lives while<br />
helping o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
