Who should upgrade to PSS 5.90.7 and Hugs 6.1.5/Pedz 1.5.5
The following guidelines should be used to determine if a site should be upgraded to PSS 5.90.7 and Hugs 6.1.5/
Pedz 1.5.5:
• All new installations
• Any site running PSS 5.5 or higher that is experiencing unexpected restarts of the PS Server by the software
Watchdog (see section below to determine if a site is having Watchdog restarts)
• Any site running PSS 5.5 or higher that is experiencing an LSASS memory leak that is not already running 5.90.4
• Any site running PSS 5.5 or higher that is experiencing an XMLNS memory leak that is not already running 5.90.6
How do I determine if a site is having unexpected Watchdog restarts
Depending on system size, these unexpected restarts may not be immediately apparent, since the system may only be
down for a short period. Unless a user has either seen a restart, or attempted to use the system during a restart, the
site may not be aware of the issue.
To check if a site has experienced a series of restarts:
1. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer.
2. Open the Patient Security event log (or Xmark if on 5.54).
3. If the log contains two events a few seconds apart with a yellow triangle beside them, then the system has
had Watchdog restarts as shown here:
2
4. If there are any Watchdog restarts then you should proceed with the upgrade.
Upgrading from installed PSS Software to 5.90.7
Important Note: 5.90.7 is a service pack and must be applied on top of 5.90.6. In turn, 5.90.6 is also a service pack
and must be applied on top of 5.90.4.
1. Ensure the system to be upgraded is running 5.90.6.
2. Copy the Patient Server 5.90.7 folder from the ftp site to a USB drive or other media.
3. Stop all the Client Applications.
4. Shut down the system by stopping the psService in Services.
5. Insert the USB drive and click on startup.exe in the Patient Server 5.90.7 folder.
6. Reboot the Server PC when prompted.
7. Verify that all the devices are online before starting the clients.
